HID Recommendations??

Hey guys
I have a 2012 528i. I'm looking to upgrade my low beams to 6k and do a fog light conversion to 6k as well. What's the best/most commonly used kits out there from our members? I'm not concerned with price. I don't want a cheap 8 month lasting kit. Any suggestions or opinions are welcomed. Thanks guys!

In my experience one does not get better lighting with an HID kit. I have done three of them always thinking/blaming the quality level of the kit, but it's not the bulb that makes the difference - it's the reflector. Yes, the light is whiter and brighter but the illumination it provides is no better and many times it is worse than the original halogen light. The higher the temperature of the bulb you use the higher blue/purple color and the lower the performance. Now, if you are just doing it for looks then my comments are irrelevant - just go for it

Agreed. The yellowness provides more "thickness" in your nighttime illumination.

The whiter the light, the thinner the illumination.

Yeah I've noticed that. 6k color is actually lower lumens than stock. Thanks for the replies I appreciate it!!!!

Morimoto

Morimoto is the only aftermarket brand Id ever go with to retrofit factory halogen.

Osram Xenarc CBI

People are correct in saying the higher the color temperature the less lumens you get in output. This said 5k color temperature will fluoresce reflectors and signage better than the stock 4700k lamps. The Xenarcs will give you more output at the same wattage so this is your workaround for the problem presented here. If you have the dough swap em. Id do it in a heartbeat but once a month the car chews up my extra money in the form of a lease payment.

Let us know what you come up with for your car.

+1 for Morimoto. I have the 4300K in my fogs and it is bright as hell.

Morimoto from retrofit source. like everyone else said 6000K is probably the highest temp you want. look at the lumens rating and this will tell you the light output. you want to stay in the 4300K to 6000K. as the K rating goes up, the lumens go down, thus light functionality decreases as well.
