Surround view option - Is it worth it ?

Just wondered if anyone has any thoughts/views about the surround view option ..... Is it worth the money or just novelty value ?

Thanks

Definitely of value, particularly if - like me - you live in a street or are likely to park in any with high kerbs and hate scuffing your alloys. Also useful when squeezing through narrow spots although I would never rely solely on it.

IMO, it's the best rim protection solution you can get, especially the top view mode.

I'm asking myself if I drive the same car ?
I was indeed expecting to protect my rims by using this option. By sunlight, the only thing I see is a big white allow around the car with no details.

to the m****

At first I couldnt find my niche with it but I have now mastered the top mode and it is invaluable in placing your beast perfectly between the white lines when backing in. Very nice tool to protect rims like Edwin said, doubly nice tool to protect the front Msport bumper if your car is lowered.

Hey Marc, you can adjust the brightness level on the fly! That will do the job.

Totally, completely, absolutely worth the money! I regret not including the extra cameras when I ordered mine - they are an essential must have equipment for this new 5.

Top view is brilliant. It is an amazing combination of low cost cameras and software algorithms that yields extremely useful results.

Thanks everyone for the responses ..... I was just too late to amend my spec today ..... order was locked down and is now heading for production .....

The brightside is it should end up under 6 weeks from order to delivery

Cheers

M

Certainly worth it. The two front wheel-arch cameras are really helpful when exiting a side junction between parked cars or other obstacles too. You've got to make a point of keeping the camera lenses clean though or the image gets really fuzzy.

One of the things I almost didn't get. I use top view ALL the time and side view pretty often - e.g. when leaving underground parkings or joining from no visibility. Absolutely must have for such a big car, no matter how good a driver you're - makes your life substantially easier.

Adjust camera exposure and contrast and it works fine.
