iDrive display differences 2011 vs. 2014

There are two things I really liked on my 2011 F10 that don't seem to be there on my 2014:

1. No indication of current playlist on iPod
On the 2011, when listing the playlists on the device, the one currently playing has a check next to it. Very useful to me.

2. No integration of traffic with route list
On the 2011, when displaying the navigation route list, any traffic issues along the route are included at the appropriate point, making it easy to scan the route and assess traffic in a single glance.

If this is an issue of settings, I'd appreciate some guidance.

Can't comment on #1, but I'm pretty sure #2 still exists (I have a '14)... or I may be thinking of my wife's car that shows this... I'll take a look next time I'm playing with it.

There's no album artwork for pre-Sep 2010 (still MY 2011) F10's since they don't have the combox in them. It all depends on your build date.

If you have a later build date you should be able to activate it in the CIC menus.

I have a 2011 F10 with a November 2010 build date, and can't get my iPod Nano to display album artwork via the iDrive...

Running all the latest software on both the Nano (mind you, it's a 2010 "cube" style unit with a color display) and the BMW telecom system (version UPD01006), and cannot for the life of me figure out how to display album artwork.

Frustrating, especially considering my brochure for the F10 clearly shows this capability!

Problem Solved!

Well, after nearly four years of relying on the factory-supplied BMW "Y" adaptor that came with my vehicle (allowing a 30-pin Apple product to harness to the vehicle's iDrive via the AUX IN & USB ports in the center console), I decided to switch the connection over to a simple Apple 30-pin to USB cable in yet another attempt to get album artwork properly displayed.

Whereas the BMW "Y" adapter needs both connections (3.5mm AUX & USB) to stream muzak via iDrive - - mind you, with no album artwork - - the Apple cable not only does both tasks via USB connection alone, it more importantly allows album artwork to display properly via iDrive!

Oh, and did I mention that it took me nearly four years to figure this out!?!

Hopefully someone else benefits from reading this... (Sooner, rather than later.)
