530d SE on order
Like many others I've been lurking on this site for a while. Now's the time to join in as my company have just placed the order for my new car:
530d SE Imperial Blue Venetian Beige Visibility Pack - xenon - adaptive lights - high beam assist Advanced Parking Pack - Park Assist - Surround View - Reverse Assist Camera - Auto Dimming Folding Mirrors Media Package Multimedia Plus - Professional Sat Nav - HUD - BMW Assist/Portal - Enhanced Bluetooth Variable Damper Control Sport Steering Wheel 19" V Spoke 331 Alloys Sport Automatic Transmission Tyre Pressure Monitor Front Comfort Seats Lane Departure Warning Lane Changing Warning Active Cruise Control with Stop/Go Internet Loudspeaker Business Black Panel Display Full High Gloss Shadowline Speed Limit Display Got within 30p (45 cents) of my limit Now trying to finagle adding Comfort Access from my company by offering to pay extra up front for it myself. Looked at going for M Sport but with VDC you don't need the Sports suspension and the rest is nice cosmetics but not worth the extra cost (prefer to add lots of toys). Also coming from a 330Ci I am looking for a bit of comfort in my old age. Looked at new multifunction display but it's incompatible with the HUD and I prefer idea of having a HUD. Test drove a 520d - constant steering correction on motorway driving. Absolute rubbish. Put me off for a year. 9 months later tried a 525d M Sport (4 pot) with 19" tyres. Nice car but felt a bit anaemic when cruising (probably because everything defaults to conserving fuel economy). Tried a 530d with 19" tyres and was converted from a petrol head to a diesel enthusiast. Fantastic engine. As quick as my 330Ci and great sound with plenty of power. Read about VDC but would you believe BMW UK don't have VDC on a 5 series saloon in their fleet of 300 demonstrators! After much reading decided to go for VDC without trying it - demo car delivery driver said it was great with 19" tyres (otherwise he recommends 18" for best all round drive). Thought about Adaptive Drive but it's v.expensive and I don't throw the car around a lot any more. Hope I don't regret that decision! Now I just need a delivery date! |

Comfort Access added! I understand that this is the most expensive car that the company has ordered - I had to max my personal allowance to do it!

Congratulations.
Great colour combo in my opinion. I've had my imperial blue/Venetian beige F11 for a week now and everyone comments on the classic dark exterior/light interior combination. PS I waited 6 weeks for my car if that helps. Was originally told 8 when the order was placed. |

Thanks. Now the wait begins!
I did try and order his car at the beginning of May but due to authorisers being on holiday it only just got approval. Lucky, as I would have been kicking myself if I'd missed out on the 2013 changes. Was looking at Sophisto Grey/Oyster-Black but wife persuaded me this was better choice and I agree after seeing the colour at a local dealer. I had Blue/Grey and Black/Beige in the past and remembered how much i liked the blue and the beige so decided to go for it. More exclusive as well - every other F10 is black and the rest are grey! |

Didn't order the MFID as it's not compatible with the HUD. Full black panel display is different, it extends the partial black panel display at the bottom of the instrument display to the full length of the instrument panel (see http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500027)

congrats, very nice spec.
I too was a convert from petrol to diesel after driving the 530d. Came from an E39 msport with BMW's superb 3 litre straight six, didn't want to go the 4 cylinder route. Its loverly and smooth and although I'm still running my in, it's power is effortless. Now the difficult bit, waiting for it to arrive! |

For years I've been anti-diesel but with a long commute I've finally having to swap my car allowance for a company car with fuel card. Pleasantly surprised with how quiet and smooth the 520d was and even more impressed with the 530d. Test drove a MB 250C Sport - fantastic handling (better than a BMW - even my 330 coupe although I hate to admit it) but the interior is naff and the diesel engine sounds like a tractor even at motorway cruising speed.
