TMP Malfunction Light

Put my new summer shoes on- hit a pot hole 200 miles later. Insert lots of foul language!!! Had to order new wheel/tire. Swapped my OEM wheels back on.

Now I'm getting a random TMP malfunction warning light at random times. After about two days. It comes on and says to drive moderately- then it goes away completely after 20-30 seconds and shows all 4 TPMS are working correctly and green.

10 minutes later it might kick on. Super annoying. Closest dealer about an hour away- any suggestions before dealer trip.

Already tried resetting severals times. It resets then will throw code again.

Guessing no one has experienced this issue. Called dealer today can't get me in until Friday- this warning is annoying as it does it every couple of minutes.

yes I experienced this on mine, took it to the dealer and they replaced 1 of them because it was faulty

but now I have a problem, not sure if it has to do with my car being coded, but instead of showing low pressure on one wheel it just gives me a malfunction instead >_>

That's all I get is TMP Malfunction. It goes away then the system shows no signs, no low pressure, all 4 wheels green. Then couple minutes later "TMP Malfunction".

Annoying as heck!

I believe if you have more than 2 Tpms failing it will show the malfunction light. you may have more on the way out. battery on the tpms might be dying. Good luck!

@tbraden32 , sounds like the receiver is having issues.
What year is your car anyway?
If it is the receiver, it should be under warranty.

2012 with 2011 production?
It could also be the TPMS sensor battery is dying. The battery's age is 4-5 years.

Dealer called today. Said one of the TMP Sensors was bad. They replaced all 4 sensors as their is a bulletin/recall on the sensors. Said they have inc issues with that particular sensor.

Just in case you guys run into the same situation.

Thanks

Garage List
I'm having similar issues with my 2013 535i with 20" BMW 464M wheels. I've coded my car to show the temp and pressure readings, so when I get an error, I can see which sensors are not reading anything. The usual culprit is the driver's rear, but every once in awhile the front passenger goes out as well. Really don't want to take it back to the dealer I purchased it from, but seeing as I am exactly one month out from the purchase date I'm inclined to make this an issue they have to fix under warranty. I can't imagine they didn't discover this while certifying the car, but considering they made some stupid errors while checking boxes on the CPO paperwork, my guess is that they just washed the car and checked all the boxes and gave me the car.

My guess is that they messed up the TPMS when painting my wheels black (instead of liquid black, but that's a whole different story). I'm just waiting for them to call me about the license plates so that I can raise all of these issues at one time and make one trip an hour and a half away.
