Got my new 550i today!!! (First Post)

Hi everyone…
I went to the dealer this morning to place an order for a 550i but to my happy surprise, they had a car that just arrived over the weekend with very close options and colors to what I was looking for.

Here are the specs:
M-Sport package
Dark Graphite Metallic 2
Oyster/Black Dakota leather
Anthracite wood trim
Convenience package
Luxury seating package
Heated front seats
Head-up-display
iPod and USB adapter
Smartphone integration
BMW apps

I was planning to order an M-Sport with the Titanium Silver Metallic and Oyster/black interior but when I saw the dark graphite color, I was sold. It looked so nice under the sun. Also, I really did not care much for the HUD and the convenience package. I find the HUD distracting a little and constantly reminding me of my speed! Also the soft close doors are kind of freaky but my son loved them! The only thing this car did not have that I miss (I was planning to order) was the steering shifters, top view camera, split rear seats and heated rear seats. It was a compromise but at least I liked the fact that I did not have to wait 6-8 weeks especially that my 2004 545i was starting to fall apart.
Anyway, I am really excited about this car. It is my first new BMW. My 545i was a certified pre-owned.

it's M-sport... but with no steering paddle? thought they come standard with M-sport.
btw nice color combo.. I'd never be able to buy light colored interior considering how I would just go anal about keeping it clean.

Awesome car, congrats. Tint it up a little (even a super-light tint if you dont want it dark), and enjoy!

Nope. SAT is a $500 addon, and IMO totally not necessary or even useful on this car. I have it, but if I was ordering again I wouldn't get it.

Very very nice color both interior and exterior.

Agreed, when driving around town I try to use the paddles to downshift, but almost impossible to change gears while turning the steering wheel. It results in going way to fast on first and second gear. Useless.

Congrats, she's a beauty from all angles! You may want to consider switching the stock grilles with the black glossy ones, really brings out the aggressiveness! The color really is very nice, I have the same on order.....although on a 520d!

Perfect car with great exterior and interior color. It is an amazing experience to turn up to place an order and drive away with one! Make sure you buy a lottery ticket this week

Sport+ with traction graphic
Sport
Comfort
Comfort+

Different then mine ...

Are you in normal, is that why it isnt displayed and what is with comfort+?

Normally, this selection does not show on the instrument panel unless I press the ride buttons in the center next to shifter. I think at the time I took that picture, I accidentally bumped a button. I can take more instrument cluster pictures later and post them. I think I have the extended cluster. I get so much info displayed there including the songs playing from flash drive which is so cool.

Thanks! It was completely unexpected. My sales person last week tried to find a car for me from other dealers but this one did not show up for some reason. He said it was a transfer car from a Arlington, TX (Dallas area) dealership (about 300 miles north of here). Supposedly, the dealers sometimes swap cars between each other. Got lucky and I think I got a good deal. The MSRP on the sticker window was 73.5K and they accepted my first offer of 68K flat. I was shocked that I did not have to negotiate.... to my knowledge there are no 550i incentives in North America right now....unless I got tricked? do you guys think I got a good deal or I could have done better?

I have the extended too but your choices for AD are different, strange. I will have to check out mine closer, I normally am 30% normal / 70% sport so I never really pay attention to the rest.

BMW have dropped the Normal mode, think since Sept 11 builds in UK at least. In cars without AD/VDC you have Comfort, Sport & Sport+ (no suspension change) and with AD/VDC you now have Comfort+, Comfort, Sport & Sport+.

I saw a 535d that had standard M Sport suspension and it had Comfort, Sport & Sport+. I drove a 640d M Sport with AD and it had the Comfort+ option and it may have had an Eco Pro mode below Comfort+ but just cant remember off the top of my head.

in 2012 they renamed normal to comfort and comfort to comfort plus.

yep yep, dark Graphite looks so good on the 5 series; more so than the 3 series. Compliments the car.
