BIG disappointment Brand New 523i
Recently I purchased a brand new 2011 523i executive from BMW Dealership, in Jakarta, Imported direct from Germany
And not even a month old, I straightly shocked by the problem showing up in the car. Considering its a brand new car, the electrical/computer system problems (you can see some of them in the picture Im attaching) These problems occur when I was driving and for me it wasnt safe at all. Since I wasnt able to change gear in that situation, (the computer wasnt able to recognize that I was pressing the brake to change gear) It was dangerous! Therefore I'm extremely unsatisfied and disappointed with the quality of this brand new 523i executive that isnt working as a brand new BMW STANDARD Quality. Model info : Sophisto Grey 523i executive 2011, not even a month old Any Idea whats going on here?? Im requesting BMW to replace me quickly with a new one. (is that to much to ask) considering its a factory defect, and what other problems will occur in long term?? |

I can't see you getting a new car because of one problem. Get it to the BMW shop and they will fix it.

What is all the hub bub?
A light is on. The car still works. Chill dude, go to the dealer and have the light turned off. Lord only knows what you will do if you get a flat tire.

Nothing wrong with mine......
Why would you be using the brake to change gears? I'm confused about that as well. Take it back to your local BMW dealer, hook it up to the computer, have your software updated. |

Cars do have technical problems you know?
Have it fixed, it's called service.

Its a brand new car, I expecting they have a standard quality check
the car not even 1 month old, the report says they needed to do a Flexy Ray adaptation in the DST system. Why? they shouldve did this before they deliver the car to me. |

Look on the bright side, with all those lights on your car will be in tune with the festive season.
But after it might get annoying.. Official dealer= no reason not to be fixed parrallel import= you're screwed |

Just think positive:
On the third day after delivery of our family wagon (e91 330i) we got on the Autobahn a complete malfunction of all driving assistance functions. The car need to stay 2 days at the dealer, a control unit need to be replaced because of an error. After that we never had any technical issue with the car. My wife loves it and me also. Sure they do quality checks, but if a part has a malfunction after this check, then such things will happen. Nothing to be angry about. The point is, how long did they need to resolve the problem and do you have a good loaner in that time? (We had an Alpina B3 Wagon (E91) as loaner, so nothing to complain from my side )! |

It sounds like a bad sensor on the brake pedal - the one that sends the info that you are stepping on it and releases the gear lever so you can go into D . . but . . you say you can go from park into reverse . . . . . hmm, that's my guess anyway. I bet it's a simple fix and not a major transmission/electronic kind of failure.

I had the same issue once on my 2010 525d! The car suddenly activated brakes by itself ( ESP ) and then I got that message on the screen... + I got an error from adaptive cruise control.
It disappeared after I switched off the engine. Then I took my car to the official garage and they had no clue what it could be. They have just erased the event from the memory... I thought everything is fine... But today I got the same error again, after 2 months! Again a warning regarding braking/ACC and a message that I should take my car to the dealer.. But it disappeared after I reactivated the ACC. |
