Generate your own FSC??

hey all while browsing the intertubes. I came across this

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1&postcount=33

A way to possible generate your own FSC for map updates. It looks like there has been success over there on the f30 forum.

You can, just follow that thread. Or grab the file you need, just ask a member to generate for you. Look under f30 on this forum.

Trying to generate FSC code -

Got the problem solved.....never mind ;-) NEXT 2016-1 maps working.

Managed to start coding a couple days ago using E-Sys v3.24.3. Had a lot of success, but some features I'm still not seeing. That's another story.

My immediate frustration is trying to extract an FSC code using E-Sys so I can update my 2013 (NEXT) maps to 2016-1. Maps are ready to install just getting error generating my FSC code. I have a 2013 528xi, build date Nov. 2012.

In module FSCExtended -

I'm using the following params:

- Diagnostic Address: 0x63
- Base Variant: HU_NBT
- Application number: 0xDE
- Upgrade Index: 0x1

After moving StoreFSC from left to right, selecting READ, then SAVE I get the save file dialog box. I name the file DXXXXXX_000DE001.fsc and I get a Runtime Error. I get the same error if I name the file DE.fsc. I was saving to Data/SWT directory. The first line of the error details is:

java.lang.ClassCastException: com.bmw.swt.fstool.core.Fsc cannot be cast to com.bmw.esys.domain.base.fsc.FscWrapper

I'm running Windows 8.1 64bit. Any thoughts, recommendations on what is going wrong? Thanks.

Does that method work fine to generate an FSC code for the 2016-1 NEXT maps?

I saw posts saying the "FSC Activation Code is only good with this Region/Year set of Navigation Updates. You will need a new one every time you perform a new upgrade."

Does that just mean I need to pull the code (using those same instructions) every time I upgrade? Or are the parameters different depending on what version of maps I have installed?

Also, haven't done this yet but incase I run into the same Java error, how did you fix it?

@bigsid- just saw this .....Yes, it did 2016.1 NEXT map set. The process will do any past or future maps. One just needs the correct lookup.xml file which gets updated with the correct parameters. Probably will have to generate a new code each new map set. Maps don't get updated all that often so I don't consider that a big problem. Even Garmin updates are dropping from 4 to 3 times a year as most people don't even take advantage of their free updates every time.
As for solution to the Java problem (if it was indeed the problem) I took the easy way out and did an end run - I changed to an old Acer netbook I had lying around running XP and eSys worked A-ok. Much smaller footprint to work with in the car as well. Do need to go back to original laptop and solve that one though. May just have been a memory allocation problem. If I find the solution I'll post.

I was also able to generate the FSC code using Esys by going thru similar thread below:

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=949582

and successfully upgrade to NEXT 2016-1, no need to buy FSC code from the members or ebay

This should have been a sticky

It works. I generated FSC codes for my cars, one has CIC and the other NBT. Both updated successfully.

Yes I had found that post a few months ago and it worked for me. You need to update your lookup.xml file with settings for the 2016 maps since those instructions are from 2014. Later in the thread are the values for NEXT 2016-1.
