California custom license plate

I ordered a custom 60s license plate with custom lettering back in mid September. anyone know how long I should really expect to wait? The DMV site did say 8-12 weeks, but I'm wondering if anyone got it sooner or (hopefully not) later. Thanks!

I placed my order June 15 and they arrived September 12, some people have been waiting 4 months. It's honestly a hit or miss with the DMV.

How does the process work after ordering? Do I get a notification via snail mail that they're ready, then take my existing plates to my local DMV? Will they give me new registration stickers there as well?

Yup they send you a notification in the mail. You go to the DMV you selected, surrender your plates, and issue new tags all at no charge.

It was personalized. I was very shocked when I got it. I was expecting at least 2 months, minimum.

I ordered mine Beginning of August, and i just got it on Nov 10.

Worth the wait though

3 months later, I finally got notification from the DMV that my custom plates are in. just in time for Christmas!

Spoke with my local AAA, Legacy plates are running about 6 months.

UPDATE: On 13th of June, I applied for personalized Legacy plates at Irvine AAA. Will keep you posted.

odd... I ordered my Legacy plates 3 weeks ago and I got them in the mail 2 days ago.

Oof 4 months seems to be an accurate estimate. I waited 4mo for the black legacy plate for my motorcycle, ordered one for my f10 about 3 weeks ago. I guess I'll see it in the new year.

I had called back over the summer, and they were backed up a few months. Took me about 4-5 months.
