I never thought I'd say this because I like the F10 so much, but maybe the Audi has the edge because of the interior.
F10 good: More like old E39 shape, stunning M-sport F10 bad: interior just like 7 and X5 etc. From some angles at a glance it looks like a 3 series. Not as imposing as E60. C7 good: Totally new grille + headlights. Interior is class leader. S-line amazing. C7 bad: Rear looks similar to A4/A8. Needs more unique roofline.

After seeing the A8 in pics, an not being all that impressed, I saw one last week on the road and it looked pretty sweet. I will have to wait till I see this in person, but my initial feelings were not met with much enthusiasm. But after seeing the A6 in a video, I think it looks better in motion. The only two things I really don't care for are the pop up navigation screen and the Christmas headlights, too much going on up there.
I really like the turn signals and the brake lights. Anyway judge for yourself....

Comparing M-Sport to S-Line, the both cars match well pound for pound. The BMW interior is always better with superior tech and the BMW will always be the ultimate driving experience with a proper rear-wheel drive.
However, in comparing the regular 5-Series to A-Series, the Audi exterior is superior in its sporty consistency with the line. The new 5-series presents itself as a much softer and friendlier executive sedan. Not my cup of tea as an M-guy. See a resemblance?...

this is so true.
F10 interior look better than Audi. A6 mirror look nicer A6 Front Bumper look meaner, especially the s-line A6 Body line look better from the sideview. At the end of the day I still choose you, BMW! |

I think the interiors are a toss up. I find it hard to give one the edge over the other. This is a good thing in the sense that BMW has really stepped up its game interior-wise.
It wasn't long ago that Audi's interiors blew everyone (even BMW) out of the water. Now Audis really have nothing on BMW (unless you count the value of the S4 against a 335xi).

The front of the Audi looks droopy, the overhang on the trunk lid is ugly and I still don't like the big side rear window. It does look very good in profile view, and seems less awkward in motion, though.

Droopy can be bad-ass.

I totally disagree. The interior on the new 5er is insanely nice. As far as a styling standpoint goes, Audi has maintained their general shape since like 1990. I find it funny how they still sell, perhaps its their "wicked cool DTRL". To me, the Audi is boring from the exterior. The BMW on the other hand has more dramatic detail (The hood, the lights, the side POV, ect.). Audi has implimented a sort of "transformer" like look to their current line up. I dont like it, it makes the cars look robotic and plodded. I prefer a car that looks agile and athletic. Bmw get my wave here.... |

No you are not the only one. In their respective sport trims, I prefer the 5 Series over the A6... but in non-sport trims I DEFINITELY prefer the A6 over the 5. The 5's standard lower fascia is a disaster. It looks like a Pac-Man character. NOM NOM NOM.

These Audis actually look a lot better with that front filler panel painted.

What is with the nav screen in the Audi?
Is it up like that all of the time? Looks like a tacky add-on. BMW wins hands down in my book...

Super-long front A6's overhang ruins it all as always did, as always will. You can see the BMW's rwd architecture from the way it is shaped from the outside. Audi is ok though. It's just not shaped as something that is made to move. A nice statue amaybe... or a piano

I like the 5er much more. The a6 is just a smaller version of the a8 and a bigger version of the a4.... I cant see any difference between the models.
And the interrior of the 5er is much beter...look at that notebook look screen in the a6 really a big fail!

Thats what I like about cars. We all look at the same things differently. I too really like the 5 series interior. It's great, but too similar to other BMWs. I think the 3,5,7 and X5 have very similar interiors. For comparison, I have shown the A4, A6, A8 and Q7

I agree with most here and like the S-line more than the M-sport, but think the base 5 wins over the base 6.
My only question is: Audi, WTF is up with those bulbous taillights? Damn that's ugly! |

I owned an A6 10 years ago while in the UK and liked it, and I've always considered Audis when looking at new cars. While I like some of their design themes and elements, they can't mask the fact that they use a FWD architecture. They've gone to great lengths to try to move the engine further back and reduce the nose-heaviness, but they are FWD cars and suffer from long front overhangs and short front wheelwell to door ratios. In the USA they focus on the AWD Quattro models, so some might miss this fact (and frankly many won't really care).
A quick comparison of the F10 and new A6 shows how awkward the ratios are on the Audi: |
