Powder Coating Calipers

I have a friend that owns a caliper shop and now also powder coating equipment. I just realized that the brake carriers and parts of the caliper are aluminum.

Is this safe to do with all the heat on the Aluminum?
anyone tried yet?

I've had my calipers and wheel hubs painted with caliper paint, been around a year and no problems yet

Powder coating would be perfect! Most people would rather paint since it's less work to be done.

Great idea. I'm not sure why BMW hasn't made the calipers look more upscale as a standard procedure. My brother was just commenting the other day that they should make more of an effort with the brakes.

While on the subject.... one of the things that I find could be a bit stronger on the 5 are the brakes. There have been times when I felt like they might be a bit under sized.

Anyone else agree?

Powder coating is better than paint. But personally, I would just grind it down with a metal brush and paint. Faster and cheaper. I've done it for several vehicles and it lasts for years.

Depends which 5 series. My 550's brakes are pretty massive. I just wish they better looking Calipers. Even the little Hyundai Genesis has a brembo option. Common BMW, we all love you now fix up the brakes bro so we don't have to!! Lol

It's not about doing it fast or cheap. As usual everyone is overthinking a mod. I have used caliper paint on numerous vehicles without any fading or chipping. You still have to prep the caliper as you would to powder coat. You just have to know what you are doing. In other words...Common sense....
