Can of worms this question I'm afraid...its been asked and answered a number of times on here - try a search. Best thing to do is to get an on-line quote via a broker and then play off a number of dealers for your business. Tell them to get to a price where no other dealer can beat it. Build a relationship with one dealer and see what they can do. 9% is the standard discount, but you can get a LOT more if you time it correct.

Just to add to balsters advice, it's worth trying more than one dealer. If you get fortunate enough to come across one who is very close to hitting monthly target you might get a better deal than you ordinarily would.
On a side note, after several turns of buying new I recently bought a 7 month old, 6000 mile 5 series. In every way it looks and feels new but it cost £13,500 less than list. Might be worth considering if you can't get the new deal you want. |

Is 9% the going discount for a new 5 series? I thought it would be more as you can get upto 20% off a 3 series. |

I don't know what the going discounts are on the different models per se, however you will achieve a greater if you purchase with finance than you will if you purchase cash. The reason being that when the dealership can make a profit by effectively loaning you money, they are more willing to accept a smaller margin on the car itself - to a point.

Most private 5er's come with Pro Sat Nav & Auto boxes as it means resale values are higher and the car is more desirable so easier to shift. Anything specific like HUD and you will have to be lucky or burn some incense and pray to the BMW Gods. Good luck.

This is exactly why I ended up getting a new one, and will probably keep it a little longer as a result.

And probably going to be on a 530d than a 520/525. Pricey option when new. Seriously, good luck.

any chance you might know what "extra" features the multi-functional display offers in addition to the colour schemes for the different driving modes? I posted a new thread asking whether the standard/multi-function display on a 2014 UK 5-series can display chinese characters from multimedia (e.g songs from disk/ipod etc) Thanks, Chi |

The actual information displayed on the MFD changes depending on what mode you're in. Also, you get Sat Nav instructions on it if you don't have HUD (or you turn the HUD off).
