This worries me. I just installed the JB4, BMS intake on Friday night and running e35 on stock dp. Although I have a catless dp sitting here, I wasn't planning on installing it just yet. Any idea how high of an e85 blend he was running or a link to the post? This is the first I'm hearing about this and isn't consistent with the fact that ethanol lowers EGTs (or how some flex fuel vehicles from the factory can run e85 with stock emissions equipment ).

EDIT - Just googled it. Looks like it can be an issue but haven't found much on it yet.

It wasnt a post i read. When i was getting my downpipe installed at the shop i mentioned i had been running e85 on my stock downpipe. (I ran 3 gallons and rest 93 for about 3 fillups) He told me about it and said i was fortunate it didnt happened to me. I myself never had a problem.

Gotcha, well thanks for the heads up. I'll have to look into it more and probably take it easy on the corn juice... one more reason to go ahead and get the catless dp installed

I googled e85 melting catalytic converter and this was the first result. Old post on another car forum.

I saw that too, but it didn't have much info. Another result came up with this where e85 is listed as a cause for a coated or oil-fouled substrate http://www.walkerexhaust.com/support...onverter-fails

It's hard to imagine E85 has any negative effect on the turbo itself, but it I suppose it can have some effect on the metals or materials in the cat depending on application. People have been running straight e85 on turbos for way too long to not have reported an issue by now.

Thats good to know but I might still stick to 93 oct... and maybe get pure stg1. I think for me on a f10 that should be enough power as a DD.

The stock fuel system on the F10 can take anywhere up to e50 (50% blend, or more/less) but most guys are running anywhere from e30 to e45 from what I've seen here.
E85 FTW
Do I have to change anytbing to put E85 or can I just install JB4 put it on map 5 and put 3 gallons of E85 + 93oct?

You most definitely need the JB4 Flex-Fuel wires to be connected to take advantage of the e85. You also need to have proper logging going on to see how your car likes it. Depending on your area (Winter area) gotta limit the e85 due to winter blends being lower than summer blends area.

When you refer to.logging are you talking about trim? If so, what is considered safe?

When I refer to logging there's much more than just trims.

- Igniting Timing
- AFR
- Fuel Pump (FP_H)
- Target
- Boost
- Trims
- Throttle

Kinda strange considering that the EGTs from e85 mixtures are usually several hundred degrees cooler...unless timing was past MBT and increased combustion chamber pressures. Kind of similar how anti lags work, but JB4 dont allow timing adjustments

Now last thing i want to confirm before i put my order in.

Do flexfuel wires come with jb4 or a separate buy? If separate buy, how many gallons of e85 can I add safely without the flexfuel wire?
