20" wheels - How Wide in the Rear?

Cant decide what is the best option for a set of Forgestar wheels. I have heard 20x9 in fronts and 20x10.5's in rear. Is that the ideal set up or are some people running 20x11 in rears without problems?

Im running 11.5 rear without problem, so 10.5 should be fine as long as you have the right offset and tire size

If your not doing wider tires than 285, I see no piont going wider than 10.5" rear wheels.

Remmib, thanks for your input. I talked with LACASTER and I think I am going to go with 20x9 in fronts and 20x10.5 in rears. What size tires should I run with this set up?

You can go with the oem size 245/35/20 + 275/30/20,
but many puts on a little wider 245/35/20 + 285/30/20
or 255/35/20 + 285/30/20.

I was just informed that the wheel I want comes only in 20x10 or 20x11, what do you recommend if I am going to be on H&R and have an M Sport F10?

It really depends on what you're trying to achieve with the car. Running anything larger than a 20x10" on the F10 is honestly just for bragging rights, as their is zero added benefit from going with a 10.5" or 11" rear. The only thing you'll gain, is added weight, which is a negative.

You're limited by your rear tire selection, and a 20x10" fits any tire you could want to run in the rear if you plan to stay within the maximum tire widths recommended for an F10.

If you have a serious need to add rear traction, a different selection of tires, or a wider tire can help, but on this platform, adding a massive rear tire and a massive rear wheel does nothing but hurt the overall feel of the car with an unnecessary stagger and added rotational weight.

Again, it depends on the overall goal you're going for, but to increase the wheel size, and still keep the car feeling quick on it's feet and increase the vehicles responsiveness and overall dynamics, go for a light wheel in a 20x9" & 20x10" set-up. That's what we run on F10's, and have had nothing but great feedback so far. A 20x10.5" is fine in the rear too.

Hope this helps!

Here's one of our 20x9" & 20x10" set-ups on an F10, running a 285/30/20 out back:

setup looks pretty amazing! with that setup no rubbing at all? if it makes any difference i have m sport with dynamic handling + integral active steering + Dynamic drive and plan on lowering the car a little bit too. tires will most likely be michelin pss in the sizes you recomended.

thank you!

Zero rubbing on that set-up, on that F10. But remember, offsets have way more to with it than the widths do. Picking the right offset in combination with the right width allows you to optimize the set-up for your car.

This car is slammed on KW Variant 3 coilovers, and experiences no rubbing, so just make sure whichever wheel company you purchase from picks picks good widths for you, but more importantly, picks good offsets for the F10 platform and your particular end goal for the car.

Hope this helps!

You can go up to 11.0 in the rear I think, but 20x10.0 is what usually most of my F10 customers get.

Has anyone tried 295 with 10.5 wheels. I am buying wheels soon and the suggested is 285/30/20 I want to avoid the stretched look and thought a touch wider would help??

285 is perfect for a 10.5 wheel. You can check out the specs of the tire on
their website for specs on wheel fittings. Most 285 can mount on 9.5 to 11 width.

or you can run 195/30/20 in the rear which i think is the perfect size as remmib

My setup is 20x8.5 with 255/35/20 and 20x10 with 285/30/20.. I would have prefer the 295s as they have a little more shoulder to protect the rim...but too late..need to wait until it the tire wears off

I am going with the OEM 312 style 20" rims, which are as follows:

Fronts are 8.5x20 ET:33, tire recommendation 245/35-20
Rears are 9x20 ET:44, tire recommendation 285/30-20

Should I use spacers? If so, what size? Will the standard 10mm front, 15mm rear work?

Thanks for your help

Front can easily take a 10 mm
Rear can easily take 18 mm
And still be conservative

Correct me if I'm wrong

Hi Folks,
I recently installed 20x9.5 in front and rear which came off my old 5 series. Will there be any issue running a standard setup (handling, suspension, rubbing etc)? The current tire size is 245/35/20.. Can I install 275/35/20 on the rear with this set ?

I get humming sound and the shop recommended to change the front tires.

I need some help here...

Thanks,
Ferry

What are the offsets? Without that, its hard to tell.
I believe the older 5s had a lower offset but with only being 9.5 out back, you may be fine.
