Anyone have issues with the doors sticking?

I just got a 2013 550i and noticed an annoying little problem: After it rains, the passenger-side front door sticks when you try to open it. Basically, when I pull on the handle and apply a normal amount of force to open the door, it stays stuck closed. When I pull much harder (quite a bit more than I would normally pull), it opens. It feels like this is an issue with the rubber seals between the door and the frame sticking together. I haven't had this issue with the other doors, and this only seems to happen after it rains.

Anyone else experienced this, and any advice how to fix it?

Many thanks!

Doug

Sounds like the door isn't properly aligned. If the fit isn't tight enough, water gets between the seal and the frame you have to break the suction to open the door. Get the dealer to check it for you.

Wow, I just got my 535 last month and the other day, after not driving it for a few days, I came to open my drivers door and it was stuck. Gave it a tug and it sounded like tape peeling. Only happened once so far!

Thanks, guys. I read online that applying some Armor All to the seals can prevent sticking. I applied some this morning and will report back whether it fixes the problem. If it doesn't, I'll have to follow OZDriver's advice and have the dealer look at it (hopefully, it doesn't come to that!).

So I Armor-alled my door seals, and then my car sat outside in some rain for a couple days. Tried the door today and there was no sticking at all. So -- fingers crossed -- the problem might be solved.

Mine have not stuck closed - but they seem to bounce off the door seals unless you really slam the doors hard. IF I decide to buy a 2014 in the months ahead I will DEFINITELY add the soft close door option - NOW I know why!

Until then, I just tell my passengers to slam the doors and pretend that they are getting into a $70,000 Kia.

Mine does it because of the rubber gaskets around the doors. Doesn't matter if you have soft close doors or not (i have them). I'm sure you can get some rubber product like gummi phlege to fix it.

Aside from sticking, how about doors making a creaking / whining / gurgling noise upon open and/or close, when damp outside / after a car wash?

I missed this whole thread until now. I have a 2013 535i.

Both of my front doors stick. Actually the passenger side door also popped open at ~30 MPH because the sticking was bidirectional - it was difficult to open the door, but ALSO difficult to fully close the door (required a hard slam).

I think the dealer realigned the doors and it's been... better.

Same with me - and as I just posted above, my passenger door popped open while driving (thankfully was caught by the secondary latch) because it was not fully closed/latched... thanks to the flawed seals.

Mine as well! I have soft close. It is only when weather is humid/rainy. It doesn't get hot here so often ;-)

Both my F10 535i and F11 530d (non-soft close) did not have this issue.

You can find it on Amazon.com. Search for Gummi Pflege

It also stops any "creaking" noise you may hear as the body flexes over any bumps and the doors move ever so slightly.

Gummi = Rubber in German
Pflege = Care in German
So "Rubber Care"

Works wonders.
You used to be able to get it from BMW Dealers, but I havent tried them for years since its cheaper at Amazon.

You can also wax the paint side of the door with normal car wax to help prevent sticking even more.
Also dont forget to clean there when washing the car. Its often overlooked.
