Fast forward a song or podcast via iDrive?

Is it possible to fast forward a song, podcast or e-book using an iDrive control while listening to it from an iPhone hooked up via the USB in the center armrest? I often listen to a podcast of my favorite sports talk radio show, and fast forward through the commercial breaks. I can do it from my phone controls, but was hoping there was a way to do it via an iDrive interface.

I'm not sure about through iDrive but I just hold down the next button to the right of the 8 preset buttons to FF. I would be curious if there was an easier way, I haven't experimented.
