yes, it works. I updated it and tested mine this morning and it all works fine. (Directions, locking, flash lights and sound horn)
The funny thing is that the 335 that I traded in at the beginning of September still is showing on the app. My friends bought this car from the dealership and I can still send directions to their car. I thought it would go away with an update, but it didn't

So there added back the ability to lock/unlock your car? Total stupidity on BMWs part to remove that in the last version.

you can lock it, but unlock still says "contact BMW..." on my update.

The location thing drives me nuts too. At least sending directions works!

I can still flash my lights and honk my horn on my '14 528, but I never had that option on my 11 335. I always found that strange.

I'm guessing but maybe it has something to do with security.

Not sure if it has to do with thieves or just other stupid users that don't know right from left (unlock from lock). Sounds like once again, the few exceptions determine how the masses get treated.
The signal still will come from the same place; what prompts it is what's different -- us having our App request the signal or someone doing the same thing from their computer is the only difference. It's just ridiculous in today's world that a password-protected app (not an option) on a password protected phone (mine is) doesn't allow you to unlock your car. Poor user experience, and I plan to keep my v2.5 until it doesn't work anymore. Was very helpful when my wife needed something from my trunk when the car was at the train station and she forgot the keys. Instead of her driving back home, I was able to get her TXT message and unlock, and then relock the car without leaving my meeting. Oh well --- maybe if BMW gets someone that has a good background in usability in their technology department, this (and their websites) may one day get better -- we can only dream

Anyone got an email address/ phone number to call to pass on feedback?
We should all do it and ask for remote climate control (great in summer/ winter). Here is the change log for this version. |

after your post i went and checked it out and it is available so thank you.
unfortunately, it said it's not available for my device which is weird because it's a galaxy s3. pretty sure that's one of the most popular android devices available. maybe i'm doing it wrong lol

just for the heck of it i visit the site bmwusa on my mobile phone and there's a section for apps. i click the bmw remote app and get an error "this item isn't available in your country." um... i came there from bmwUSA and i live in the USA... so tired of bmw and apple. can't get anything right for the other 80% of the market share because it's just an after thought. so gross.
sorry to get off track here. /end rant

i won't install it for security reasons but thank you nonetheless. it's sad that ppl have to install files shared by random ppl on a forum to get the functionality they pay for. i wish i didn't love bmw cars as much as i do or i would switch just because of this nonsense.
