How do you feel about the upcoming F10 LCI?

I am curious how people feel about the upcoming LCI, especially the new F10 owners and the ones who have one on order (I am one of those). Shortly after you get your car, there is a facelift.I personally have never leased/bought a car so shortly before a facelift and have mixed feelings.

As long as I like the way my car looks and I enjoy driving it - who cares if some else gets a slightly different look by buying the LCI version. It's not as though anyone who isn't a BMW enthusiast would understand the difference (even if they noticed it).

The LCI is always better after all they take the original car and improve on it, its evolution. For me this time im not so bothered about owning the LCI as I wouldn't be in the F11 for another 12 months if I waited for it and I have had my car 8 months already. If I was buying new I certainly wouldn't buy a pre face lift within the 12 months before the LCI, over here it just be worth so much less when coming to sell it later on. Same position that the E60s are in now, the LCIs are much more desirable because of the improvements.

Well why settle for the next LCI; surely after that there will be another and then some time later another and so on. Then at some point there will be a new model so lets just keep waiting. You have to make the move at some point so I personally don't see the point waiting 12 months for what will only in reality be a few subtle changes. A totally revised model is a different matter though.

Im in the camp that might order before the LCI. I've seen how BMW changes some key parts to the car. But i cant help but think the wheels, base seat and steering wheel need updating.

Its a tough call. Leases are good, and car is at invoice price. Hard to argue knowing the LCI wont be a great deal in 2014.

Did you take delivery yet? Can you wait until September? Thats when its out?

TOUGH call... exterior wise, can it get better?

The LCI is a major change to the car not like the yearly improvements that are implemented every MY change, it happens once to each model mid life then the next major change is a whole new model. Its an individuals choice if people are happy with the old car, if you can great prices on the older version then thats something to consider but in the UK where most people buy the car that doesn't happen and its a no brainier to wait for the newer version. The used prices reflect this as well.

There is also a clear advantage to sticking with the original penned car. This 5 series was a knock out and I've seen them lose the regular sport pack, they stopped offering the original Dark Graphite paint color. The LCI may square off the headlights and turn the grin spoiler into a frown.

Thats why I am in such a state of flux. Go with the proven design, slghtly less sporty handling....

OR... BY pass the 5 for the M5! If only it leased out less than a mortgage payment.

I already bit the bullet and ordered one before the year end. They will deliver it by 02/25. I love the current design and I am planning to do some mods myself. However, I also would not mind some extra power (although it is mostly useless in the US due to "smart and very logical" speed limits), the possible digital gauges and LED lights. But then again, I have an amazing lease deal that was very hard to ignore.
The fact that some of the software issues are ironed out by now is nice and also we have more parts to mod the car.
In 39 months, they'll probably have the the all new 5 Series that I am planning to get or maybe a 6 GC.

I am grabbing a June build slot and going with the pre-LCI 550ix since I like the current styling. So anyone who wants a pre-LCI car needs to order a car no later than the end of June.

I am planning to buy a new f11 xdrive, 525d or 530d, but will wait for the LCI. I have no problem with the design or engines that is offered today, but what I'm hoping for with the LCI is that it will get the same type of adaptive headlights as fitted on the f30/f31. As far as I understand the new generation of adaptive headlights fitted on the new 3-series are way more advanced and better than the adaptive headlights of todays 5-series. To me good headlights is a priority when buying a new car, especially with the constantly growing amount of accidents caused by moose crashes during the winter.

The most important update is extra power imho. Don't really care about facelift. The current version is still going to be considered beautiful. Can't wait to see Dinan 550 vs LCI 550...

You mean these. They are adaptive LED headlights and will be offered alongside but as a higher option above adaptive xenon lights. The have been seen on the LCI 5 already and can be recognised by the squared off angel eyes.

Yes I know that adaptive LED headlights will be offered as an option with the LCI. But as far as I understand the adaptive headlights on the f30/f31 is just xenon. I have been told that the adaptive xenon headlights on the f30/f31 work individually and in the same way as the LEDs in the Youtube video. It might be so that the adaptive LED headlight are even more sophisticated than the adaptive xenon headlights offered for the f30/f31.

As I said in my first post I wouldn't hesitate to order todays f11 if it wasn't for the hope of even better headlights than it has today. BMW offers todays f11 at an incredible good price so it's really hard to decide if I should wait or just by today.

WOW! what unbelievable technology. I am amazed at what they are showing there. Headlights are a huge part of the car imo, especially for someone like me that drives a lot of back roads at night. I will definitely pay extra to get the LED Intelligent lights! Well done BMW!1

watching that video with its hypnotising music , is just amazing.
I thought my Xenon adaptive headlights were good but this really takes a large step forward.
I wonder how much these will be as an option.

The price for the adaptive LED headlights option on the 6-series is 24 400 Norwegian crowns. I think thats about £ 2 800. But it might be well worth it

I am guessing that the adaptive LED headlights will be somewhere around $2K in the US. They sure look amazing in the presentation but I'd still wait a year or two before getting them to see how efficient and reliable they are in comparison to the Xenon ones.
