Delayed 1st start 2014 550i

Hello,

Just bought a 2014 550i w/70k miles. Everything is perfect other than the 1st cold start take 3-4seconds to start, any subsequent starts are immediate. Never had it not start. Battery brand new. 1st BMW trying to figure out what to test?

Sounds like HPFP.

So the more I did some testing, the more I'm not so sure it's the HPFP and don't want to start ordering things without certainty. If it was HPFP, I would most likely get some misfires/rough idle and definetly some codes. ISTA+ not returning any codes and no check engine lights.

The power is also there even at redline. If it was truly HPFP, would have at least one instance with loss of power in upper RPMs and I've been driving for 1 week daily and never had loss of power.

Had battery tested as well as alternator/starter. All passed.

Dam, really stumped here..

You’re right. And I’m dumb. I’m dumb, because I had the identical issue with my 135 at the time. Granted, the engine is different but I had the identical issue which actually was resolved when I replaced the valvetronic motor in it. It was clicking when locking/unlocking, plus giving me the same issues as you describe. I also had absolute poop gas mileage until I changed it. So, I guess that may be another thing to look into. I hope someone else can chime in because I don’t want to give you misinformation. I’m just going based on experience.
