Is traffic update part of Navigation system
I have a new 535 with Nav and I am not clear whether or not it has traffic information update. I have seen some posts that have mentioned it. I am in Canada. thanks

The U.S. Nav system gets traffic information over an FM radio information source. There is no cost, but you need some station broadcasting information in your area. I think there's a settings screen which will show what traffic broadcasts are available in your area. There may not be any.

My experience is that either the FM-based (TMS?) broadcast/data is spotty or the BMW implementation is crappy.
There are some faint yellow/orange lines that show up during rush hour (when you select grey/traffic display), or nonsensical (impossible to see) arrows that indicate traffic flow problems in the full-color mode. The grey triangles indicating accidents/incidents and construction are also useless. BMW should look at how Nissan/Infiniti implemented traffic flow. |
