Does repairing bent rims work??

I recently had two bent rims on my F10 when we hit a bad pothole (driver side, front and back). Took the car to the dealer who said they could be repaired, and then they also did an alignment. There were no bubbles on the tires, so they were not changed.

Before the repair the car vibrated severely at over 65 mph. After the repair, its about 70% better, but its still not as smooth as it used to be and there is a mild vibration over 60mph, more so through the seat than the steering wheel which makes the car feel jittery and unstable.

My question is - for anyone else that had bent rims repaired. Did the repair completely cure the vibration? Does it take multiple attempts? Should I also get the wheels balanced?

Yes it works.
I had two of mine repaired and they both feel and look as good as new.
Shop doing the repair will (or should) balance it after repair.

If done properly and wheels are rebalanced you should not have any vibrations. I have had plenty of minor bends repaired and have had no issues afterwards.

It all depends on how severe damage is
you can get if fixed but you are prone to air leak, balancing issues, cracking etc...

also if the tires have improper wear even after the wheel is fixed and balanced could still cause those vibrations

I'll say, probably for any other car, the standard rim repair would work. For the F10 and its sensitivity to wheel balancing, go for the full resto (heat process) or buy new rims. At the least, new tires too. I went through 2 sets of cheap rims before I got new ones (also "cheap" but not bc they are, but an amazing deal). Finally solved my vibration. When I bought the car, the oem rim was bent.... I got busy and never held the dealer accountable.
