F10 550i sports transmission
I am about to order F10 550i ED.
I need to make a selection between steprtonic 8 speed and sports transmission. There are mixed information confuse me: BMW configurator says "6" speed sports automatic, My CA says difference between two is only with or without paddle shift, BMW overview and european brochure says 8 speed sports automatic. Can anyone tell which story is correct for US model? |

Both the Steptronic and the Sports Automatic are 8-speeds. Only the Manual transmission is a 6-speed.

The new available sport automatic transmission receives a unique shifter design and F-1 inspired shifter paddles on the steering wheel, which allow for faster up and down shifter and throttle blipping.
Also included in the sports automatic transmission is a special sport mode that enable "super fast" gearshifts for quick and responsive power. Benefits: * fast and sporty shifting * instantaneous power * quick acceleration * occupies less space in the console allowing room for an extra storage tray So ... I believe its a 500 dollar option which in the scheme of things is minuscule.

Thanks all,
I decided to choose sport auto based on your feedback. I am going to place an order tonight, DE pick up date was set as July 26th. My son lives in Germany so I plan to take him to a maiden drive. |
