Give Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner a shot - I use that to clean the soot off the transom of my boat and clean the interior. I keep finding new uses for this stuff, who knows, this might work on your glass.

Thanks; will research if it scratches glass first, though!

On the other hand, think "scrubbing bubbles" would work for carbon buildup on the tailpipes?

Hmmm... I wouldn't think it would scratch. My wife uses it to clean our master shower (all glass) as well as stove top, oven doors, etc - all glass. Granted, if it did create very fine scratches, maybe we wouldn't notice? You can always test it out on something else first, I guess. It's basically like a white sponge material... doesn't seem abrasive enough to scratch. But even if you don't use it for your car, it's just an amazing product to have around the house!

Similar to magic eraser, I wouldn't think scrubbing bubbles would scratch. This is another product we've used in the bathroom and in the shower... again, all glass - largely to remove soap scum and film from the glass. I haven't noticed it scratching anything. But worth testing it out.

Hard to tell from the photo if the something is on the glass or it is damaged, but either way it should be fixable either by cleaning or polishing. Have you ever seen the cars detailing videos from AMMO NYC? Maybe a bit over the top car detailing, but I like watching them and picked up a few good car cleaning tips. Here's one about cleaning the windshield. Maybe something in this video may work, razor blades, polishing compounds etc. I think this guy is in your area, maybe have him give it a try?

I wouldn't think that SB would scratch, I've used it all over the fiberglass hull and haven't seen any scratches on my gel coat, but I would hold off on the Magic Eraser - it says not to use it on any painted or glossy surfaces even
though glass is pretty tough I'd still be cautious.

Clay bar may work.

Noticed the attached in addition to the windshield problem shortly after picking up my car from being 'detailed'.

Unfortunately, forgot to mention the attached when I brought the car back to fix the windshield, as I've been driving around with windows down for about a week and half to air out the noxious air freshener smell applied to the interior.

Now that I'm done airing out the car and it's beyond humid out, I've been leaving the windows up, and the following came to mind again! So I tried dishwashing detergent, but it's not coming off!?

Stopped by the dealer, detailer tried a few different products, none of which worked, showed the manager, tried Ajax, which didn't work either. He said when I get home to try vinegar and/or lemon juice and that if both don't work, he'll replace the window!? When you scratch the affected area with a finger nail it makes a squeaking / etching sound that's not made on other parts of the glass; manager also tried a razor, which didn't do anything.

I can't believe it, what can this be? I brought it to a body shop after and they said it may be either concrete, limestone or tree sap, but it certainly doesn't look like tree sap to me!?

Thoughts as to what this may be!? It's along part of the lower edge of the driver's door. No other windows appear to have same. Definitely on the outside, not inside. Nice of the dealer to offer a new window without hassle, but would need to be re-tinted (which they'll do as well), but who knows if the tint will match (tints were done three years ago at my selling dealer and I have no clue what the brand / model of tint used, doubt they'd know either).

Btw, that's the reflection of another car next to mine.

Hope the vinegar and/or lemon juice works! Argh!!!
clay bar + possible polishing. Check out this video from ammo nyc.

Still have what's shown on my windshield in the first picture above. Dealer previously polished out similar from my driver’s door window, but determined that the vertical lines on the other door windows are from tint delamination.

My windshield has gotten a little better since, but I’d like to resolve same and the dealer just wrote this:

“That work was done via a small orbital polisher and a glass glazing compound. Its hard water staining, so it needs to be removed with an abrasive compound. The technician who did that work was doing so only to prove what it was by cleaning up a piece of the glass. This is not our normal scope of work, and at our hourly labor costs it makes no sense to do that work here. My recommendation is to find a glass shop that does window polishing and have them do the work for probably less than a hundred bucks. Look for a small mom and pop type shop.”

Anyone know of any shops on Long Island near Manhattan that would do same for my windshield?

Thank you.

Anyone know if it’s okay to use either WD-40 or AFTA to clean glass on our cars?

Not WD-40. Will leave an oil-like coating, although it should wear off over time.

Hey man, I use this stuff to clean off pretty much everything in my car. Even old dirty greasy stains come off without a need for a steamer. It works on windows too.
