Torn between 2 550Xi HELP!
Issue is I'm torn between 2 cars:
2013 550i xDrive - 41,000 miles CPO. $33700 Dynamic Handling, Executive, M Sport, Cold Weather, Executive Package N63TU Update Done 12/15 2014 550i xDrive 44,000 Miles CPO $39800 Driver Asssitance Plus, HK Audio, Cold Weather The 2013's have me nervous due to the N63 engine problem. it seems folks still have issues after the update is done (I know I'll have CPO but that will run out in 2 years on the first option but its way less money). Dynamic handling seems to be a MUST and it's hard to find on used models. The HK Audio is awesome in the M6, I don't think it's the same system in the 5 series. The 2013 does have the hifi but I'm guessing that's base audio and I listen to a lot of music.

The " base audio " in 2013 is actually the HI-FI premium, sounds pretty good In my opinion. Very clear and base is very punchy. I listen to Hip hop/ rock.

I'd go with the '13 mainly because its has more packages (M Sport, Cold Weather). Also there its cheaper. And if you worried about it breaking, just invest into an extended warranty.

I agree. I have 2013 with 45k, nothing major after the CCP. The additional $6k should give you more than enough extended warranty plus some decent Mod. |

Depends if you plan on modding the cars or not. If not, I'd go with the 2013, simple jb4 tune won't void warranty.
If modding, go n63tu as the DME can be tuned on those and more reliable (so far). |

Nope the N63 is not a motor I would own again. I recently had to have my motor replaced a little over 100k and I had the CCP done. Car was maintained at BMW since production.

Newer is better IMO and I'd go for the LCI '14. Also you'll be glad you got HK.

steering wheel and other updates
main one being the motor with ALOT OF UPDATES do a google search there's a doc out there documenting all the changes between n63 tu and n63. i'd go for the newer one.... also that seems a bit high, now that the new ones are out for that high a mileage. Where r u located? Have you tried looking in southern states? where they don't get snow, so less 550xi's and that may help you get a better price... to give u an example I bought my 2014 550i with 12k miles (sport/exec/cold weather) in jan 2016, in bend oregon (I live in San Jose, CA) for 46k + ttl. Now mine was anomaly in the sense that the car sat on the lot since september, in an area where there wasn't a big market for RWD v8 luxo sedans such as this. point is, it may pay to look out of your area, and buy a 300 plane ticket to fly and rive it back....mine was 600 miles away! |

I believe F10 LCI facelift changes include: modified steering feel, M6 steering wheel, facelift for front grill & headlights & lower air dam & taillights, chrome strips around Nav screen, bigger cupholders, touch pad on iDrive, standard pass-through rear seat (useful!) among other bits.
