Automatic transmission reset

My 523i went in for service to cure the problem with at times not being able to move the transmission selector from D to S without giving it a hefty punch. While they didn't manage to fix this they did (I think) reset the transmission memory so that it is now shifting in a way intuitively much closer to the way I'd like it to shift. This got me thinking. On the E60 there was a combination of turn key, press gas pedal for 10 seconds, press some button, etc. whereby the transmission memory could be reset by the user. Has anyone heard of this being possible on the F10 and knows the combination?

I don't think you should accept the car with this stiff gear lever; it doesn't bode well for the future and when your warranty expires.
Problems like these don't go away.
