Cheap tuning chip?
Hello all,
I have been recently searching for a performance chip for my 2012 535d (UK) and having looked at many different websites, I have found quite a good looking one (that is much cheaper than many others) here: http://www.prodieselchip.com/gb/dies.../535d/436.html It claims to do things such as up the power from 313PS to a hard to believe 395PS as well as an increase of torque from 630(NM?) of torque to a staggering 810NM. Not to mention a 15% increase in economy. I know that most websites do in fact tend to exaggerate these figures, but these seem to be very high. All of this comes at a price of only £125, which sounds amazing. My question is, is this too good to be true? All of the reviews on the website are suprisingly positive, making me wonder whether or not they are all real. I don't know whether I should just get a more expensive one such as one from DTUK (http://www.diesel-performance.co.uk) or something like that, or risk this cheap one. If any of you have bought from these websites (or any website that sells chips for that matter) then please share your experiences; they will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! I had a DTUK CRD-t+ on my 535d (US Spec) and the results were impressive I thought. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the fuel economy ratings as it's super hard to stay out of the right pedal. Going on a long highway trip I'm sure you would get the quoted increase as I was getting a solid 10% "around town". I never got to take it on a long trip before I traded it in to test the fuel economy. It was definitely fun to get the cell phone to fly out of the cupholder though from a stop. (tuner probably made the US spec feel like the real 535d so this is probably nothing new to you).
I know this was from a while ago but hope it helps if you haven't made a decision yet.

Had a DTUK on my 535d F10 313PS. Didnt really give any impressive gains and in the higher modes where it showed abit of power gain it either gave it an engine management light or put it into limp mode. Took it off got it remapped which made a massive difference, much more so than the tuning box did. Yes it invalidated my warranty, but i trust the tune and the vehicle that nothing will go wrong. Since sold the 535d and recently collected my new 435d which will also be getting remapped this Thursday.
Hope this helps |
