Brake rotor hats rusting?

This is more for the f10 owners who drove thru this years nasty winter. Luckily I picked up my f10 after the snow and my brake rotor hats (center) are still nice and silver at 600 miles. Do Those of you with higher miles have rust on the center of the brake rotors? Most of my previous cars were either painted black or silver and rust wasn't an issue but the f10 appears to be uncoated. Thoughts?

I think every BMW I have driven during the past 15 years has this same issue. Based on the above I would say this is totally normal.

normal.

made the mistake on my last E92 and E60's of using acidic wheel cleaning products which didn't help either. switched to ph neutral based cleaner now. R222 Wheel gel see if that helps reduce the affect.

Actually, I read your post once again.

I stand by my post as it gives a factual confirmation of my witnessing the visible oxidation in the indicated area on the seven (7) BMWs that I have owned during the past fifteen (15) years.

While you may feel that my response is not worthy since it does not exactly match every element of your solicitation for comments, it is worth noting that you are not the only person on this board that benefits from the responses of others.

I am sorry that I misunderstood the rules on this board that said we must all give deference to you alBoston.

+1 always use a non-acid wheel cleaner
