Adaptive lights question

I'm confused by the driver's manual about adaptive lights and the cornering lights especially.

Page 86 of the UK manual says:

"So as not to dazzle oncoming vehicles, the adaptive cornering light is shown as a status on the front seat passenger side."

Now I know the manual can be ambiguous and confusing at the best of times, but I have no idea what this means.

I think they used an automatic translator for the UK manual. The US manual explains it:

"To avoid blinding oncoming traffic, the adaptive
light control directs light towards the front passenger
side when the vehicle is at a standstill."
