New 2013 F10/Memory Buttons
I just picked up my 2013 F10 (550i xdrive). Good news is it has the new navigation. Dealer claimed it had the horsepower bump too, but I'm pretty sure that isn't true based on this forum (and don't know how to check).
Question though: This is my third BMW, my previous two being E90s. On my E90, I could set a memory key by activating a function on iDrive then pushing and holding a memory key. For example, if I set a new destination, then once the map came up pressed and held "1", that would set "1" to that destination. On my new F10, whenever I do the same thing, "1" gets set to the map view setting (800 feet, where I was) instead of the destination. Similarly, I selected a satellite radio station then pressed and held a number, and it set that memory button to be "select satellite radio station" rather than the station I was on. Obviously this is functioning differently from my old E90s. Is this a function of the new navigation, or have they just changed the way the memory buttons work from my last E90 3 years ago? Can someone help me figure out how to get destinations and radio stations into my memory buttons? |

Yes, but totally unhelpful on this. Doesn't give me any explanation as to how to do this other than pressing and holding to store a function (which is what I'm already doing). This has been changed in some way since the E90, and the manual doesn't explain it.

You have to think of the memory button to be the same as pushing down the iDrive controller. In other words, navigate your way to the function you want to store, but instead of selecting it with the iDrive controller and activating it, long press the memory key.
So, find the sat station you want to store in the list of presets or on the list of stations, but instead of selecting, long press the memory key you want it stored in. If you've already, say, selected your destination and that's what you're trying to save, then it's too late. |
