Air Suspension Question

My GT 550 had an air suspension and my X5M has an air suspension, how come the 550i Sedan doesn't have an air suspension, I noticed the 7 also has it. Does it make a difference? I really like how the 550i drives.

How come BMW didn't equip the 550 with the air suspension, even when you have DHP?

Anyone know why the 5 omits air suspension?

My 750 Li comes with rear self leveling air suspension (front uses springs), but the 750i does not (all springs). Maybe it has something to do with self leveling?

The air suspension does provide a very comfortable ride but over time the ballasts break and it can become a very expensive repair. My parents' 2003 E500 Mercedes is a cream puff at 43K miles had the left and right ballasts burst at different times to the tune of $2100 each. My coworker's Lincoln Navigator was given an outrageous quote to repair his air suspension ballasts so he visited an Off-Rosd specialty shop and replaced it with a heavy-duty Coilover setup.

I wouldn't have purchased a 550i if it had an air suspension!!
