Jb4 550Xi - no real power difference?
Not sure if it is just me, I bought the JB4 beta without the BCM. When switching from stock to maps 1 and 2 even...I do not feel a huge difference in power when compared to the e90 335i I use to drive where the difference is instant. Everything on the steering wheel seems to work etc, is it just me or does anyone think I might have to re-check the wires etc? I do not have the JB4 connect kit so I might have to invest in that to really see whats going on I guess
I drive a 2011 550xi |

do you have FBO? If not your not going to feel a huge difference.

Not FBO - just tune. I figured being that the car is so heavy and big, the power wouldn't be felt as such. However, I did order the BCM cable as well at the JB4 connect...so as soon as all of this is installed we will see

Huge difference from Map 2 to Map 7 (with BCM connected). The JB4 connect kit is also a cool little feature...I can see exactly if I am hitting the correct boost, timing etc
I had a 335i before and when I put a tune on it you could really feel the difference. With the 550i I didn't feel that much of a difference as I stated before. But going to the BCM and map 7 is similar to that feeling I got with the 335i |

No, dont fall into the hype of catless dp's. The stock downpipes are more than enough for the power that can be currently made with the N63. Until a flash tune is readily available, catless dp's dont do anything but help the turbos spool faster which should give you a small bump in the mid power range. You would worry about the transmission before anything else.
8 psi over stock and it requires the BCM BMS Dyno proved to be around 500whp/560tq and its more reliable than the old bms stage 2. Car is night and day between map 0-2 and map 7 with bcm and high octane fuel to prevent preignition. |

As I recalled reading in the past, F10 550i JB4 Beta Map 1 is about equal to N63 BMS stage 1, so I figure about ~420-430rwhp. Then Map 2 is 2psi more than Map 1 which is equal to the old N63 BMS stage 2 numbers of ~460-470rwhp. Then Map 7 is 2psi more than Map 2, and BMS has gotten ~ 500-510rwhp.

Terry mentioned something about the twin bank control, the N63 is limited to 19-20psi tops and the TU is 24-25psi tops

Swapping the TMAP to 3.5 won't get you more HP. It would allow you to read higher boost that you would get if you upgraded the turbos though since I think the stock TMAP can't read more than 21 or so PSI. At least this is my understanding.

right - allow for higher boost = more power.
