Key got stolen.

Hi guys,
I have a 2011 535xi

I put my key at the gym locker and someone busted my locker and stole my key.
Now I am afraid that they can get access to my car.

1. What should I do?

2. Whats the best and cheapest way to replace a key.

Please please help.

Thank You.

sound to me like you need a trip to your dealer, and if not wrong a re-programming will be applied, since they use the keys when in for service the history of your car need to be copied over to the new set too.

Yah the dealers can reprogramme it for like £50 so it won't work on your car any-more.

The key itself isn't that expensive but the programming is!

When you visit the dealership for key reprogramming make sure you have your vehicle registration as well. The same thing happened to my neighbor's X6 and the dealership was able to acquire a replacement key and reprogram a new one quickly.

First, I doubt anyone would steal your car because you can easily track it, shut it down and call the cops.

Second, there is no cheap way to get a new key unless you have the key replacement insurance with your wheel and tire insurance.

Your auto insurance may cover a lost key also. If you have renter's insurance, you can claim someone broke into your place and stole your stuff.
