F07 vs F11
Greetings,
im considering buying my first BMW and cant decide what model should i buy both would be ordered with same options only diffrence would be some minor cosmetic choices but heres the problem F07 is only 1000€ more than f11 and both will be 535i, witch one would you take and reasons why? im fine with how F07 looks so can we avoid answers like choose F11 because F07 is ugly. lovec1990 |

I'd take the F11 simply because I don't need a car as big as the F07.

F11 cause the F07 is ugly. Sorry, but it is so apparent, we need to say it twice. The F11 is stunning, go for that if the extra spaciousness is not absolutely necessary.

I have a 2014 F07 and love it. I love the semi command seating, headroom, and large space for all occupants. I was tired of carrying around the large empty "box" of a backend and so I really like how the F07 is a sedan and not a wagon as the F11 is. I especially love the nice seal between the rear seat and cargo along with moving and tilting rear seats (60/40 split). To be fair, technically the F07 has more cargo space but some things need the height of a wagon or SUV so that is the only reason I can think of to go F11 (aka you need the "big empty box in the back").
I think that an F07 with DHP addresses faults people have with handling of large cars like the F07 and F02. Adding IAS makes it turn like crazy. In the end, space, comfort, ride and practicality are very strong points of the F07. Love that moon roof for rear passengers. These are more important features than just sheet metal in my book. Plenty of nice sheet metal cars out there for less money if that's all that matters. But as Autotrader put it recently, "We're done poking fun at BMW's oddly shaped hatchback people mover like a playground bully. " and "It may be unconventional, but, bottom line, this is one heckuva car." http://www.autotrader.com/research/a...car-review.jsp

1- F11 since F07 ain't a Wagon.(I.e touring/avant/combi)
2- F11 is more compact but still one of the best family car around. 3- F07 is....(we all know it ugly sorry can't help it).... big in case one wants a bigger car than the F11 4- not sure about weight but my guess is f07 might be heavier i.e higher fuel consumption which one is easier to sell when u wanna get rid of it? what is ur need? Family car?

The F11 is just a 5 series wagon. yawn. The F07 is a 7 series in the footprint of a 5. That means room and luxury in a small footprint.

Depends how much room do you need? The F07 will offer more interior space for you and your passengers while the F11 will offer you more trunk space. That is the bottom line if you aren't concerned about how they look. Personally i think the F11 is way more sexy looking but that's just me (and the majority lol)

These are picts of the two trunks. The GT is configured with the rear seats moved as far backward as possible. This 500L is as small as the GT gets. I don't think the Touring rear seat is adjustable.
*EDIT* Updated photo to show 2014 Touring not 200x.

I literally just posted this in the UK section....
I have to say I loved my old mans 5GT, I think in a dark colour it looks OK too. The rear load space is amazing, like a 7 series in normal seating position and almost 7 LWB with the seats back. This is 2 seat option, but shows you how much room.... The interior is a notch up from the F10 too, very similar but feels a little better all round, which is saying something as the F10 is superb. Don't write it off! Specially when you can get a nice one for decent money too, seem to be holding up a bit better price wise now though, maybe people are getting used to the looks.......slightly anyway. To put this into perspective, my father had a 730d sport, ran it for 2 years and swapped for an F11, he couldn't fault the F11 in any area, but he never gelled with it, he wanted to love it, but after 3 months decided he had to get rid of it, he is now 70 and life is too short. He ended up trying the X6, A8, S350cdi, X5, new 730d and the 5GT. The 5GT won. The 5GT has a much more usable load space than the F11, he couldn't even get his golf bag (on a trolley) into the rear on the F11 without coming over the rear seat, he actually borrowed my E350 estate when three of them went away for the weekend. The 5GT would take two sets no problem. One odd thing about the 5GT, he had the active suspension, the Sport Mode was less crashy than the Comfort mode. Getting it off run flats made a huge difference to the overall package, where as the F11 on run flats was 'acceptable'. |

you could say the same about the F11, why buy one when the F31 does the handling and economy better. |

The 5GT is a 7 Series hatch, it feels a much bigger car to drive, that has benefits and negatives, you may find them more beneficial or more negative, depending what you like from a car.
You need to drive both to see, they are very different cars. |

i know i have too drive them both. I was here asking for opinions of others who driven both. On paper gt is 4cm wider, 10cm longer and aroound 10cm taller than touring so in my view both cars are big.

I don't get why other peoples opinion matter that much. The guy who buys a 5 series as a compromise because he can't afford the 7 series probably prefers the the 5GT, the guy who buys a 5 series as a compromise because a 3 series is not big enough to take the family in comfort probably prefers the 5 series.
I had a few months and an F11 and then in an F07 for around 2 years. It was my old mans, but drove it a lot as we work together. When you drive both you will see that, apart from the interior layout, they are very different cars to drive. The GT feels closer to an X5 than a 5 series imho. When will you get a test drive? |
