Replica M Sport front bumper
Has anyone tried this?
Do they fit right? For $500 seems like a crazy deal. http://www.ebay.com/itm/11-13-BMW-F1...89385c&vxp=mtr |

Looks good, but not quite sure what this is about though, the "not for MSport" part. Shouldn't matter if your car is an MSport or not? I might pick one up as a replacement for mine, but mine's an MSport and as far as I know, it should fit both MSport and non MSport...

Looks good at the picture but I hope it doesn't crack while shipping it to your house.

^Hmmm, interesting. Did not know about that, but will look into it more.
They wont, theyre made of PP. It's the same material as OEM bumpers, which are able to take quite a hit before cracking/ripping. |

Doing the OEM retrofit route did require buying a lot of behind-the-bumper pieces, but with OEM the fitment is fabulous. When I was planning my bumper retrofits, I was warned by other forum members that the after-market kits look appealing on-screen, and will not require extra pieces, but may not fit well without a lot of labor. And labor is the expensive part of these projects.

Currently in the market for a F10, if I am unable to locate a used 535i with M sport package, I was planning on buying front and rear from ModBargins, your above post now has me wondering if I should go OEM... |

I decided against the full M Sport package (and also found them to be very expensive as lightly-used cars). I wanted only a better suspension and front and rear bumpers. No decals, no side skirts, etc. So for me it was an easy choice to shop for an used base F10 and then to upgrade these three main items.
I also found that my local BMW parts department will match prices from online places like getbmwparts.com. http://www.getbmwparts.com/partlocat...subcat1=189453 I spent many hours debating this and did go OEM for a few reasons which we've already discussed, and for one that hasn't been mentioned. This new one is what insurance companies do about repairing after-market components after a mishap. Also, I was afraid of putting a part on my car which may not be available a few years later if someone hit me and I needed it. |
