N55 Oil Pan Gasket labor times - RWD

Hello. What is the average labor times for a oil pan gasket for a non x drive N55 535? I am seeing many varying times (hours).

And how complicated is this job, many components to move?

Thank you

I know for awd they go around 10 hrs on the book. It's not a great difference in time to remove the front axles and differential. I can't see it being more than 1-2 hrs added to the bill. So you figure 8-9 total on rwd. I've done it myself on a e53 awd. It's a job. But if I had to do it again it would probably take me half the time. I did it on my back. With a lift it's cake.

I did mine on a 2011 535 after it ate a belt. It's a bitch to do while laying on your back if you are a bigger than average person. There just isn't much space to move around. Only issue I ran into was I couldn't figure out how to get the subframe out without removing a million other things. I ended up dropping the pan as much as I could and putting the be gasket on while under the car. I spent the better part of 2 days doing it with help from a more "nimble" friend.

Thanks for the replies. Extended warranty is only offering a certain allowance for it. They said they are using all data. They are right at 7.5. I will be on the hook for the difference, not complaining as there is always usually some gap with these warranties. Just glad it was approved.

Mine was done a few months ago, covered by Route 66. Holy shit just checked the bill and it was 11.5 hours at $225/hr (SF area). Glad I didn't pay!

Are new oil pan bolts recommended when doing this?

Every single other job on the F series calls for new bolts, I can't see the oil pan gasket being any different.

Just looked it up so I'm not just being a smart alec:

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...-sump/Am4JN6AB

"replace screws" all over the place in the instructions and on the torque sheet.

Wow I did not know that. Warranty should reimburse me for it since it is officially required. I am sure they will put up a fight though ...

Did they cover the bolts, or did they just keep the original?

Update: warranty said no coverage for bolts as it is hardware. Suckers. Oh well!

Ha, no, I had to pay about $50 for "Set of aluminum screws". Still, compared to what was covered, I was thankful to pay it.
