Connected Drive - RTTI
Hopefully someone can put this to bed..
When I bought the car I was told in no uncertain terms that the RTTI was a lifetime subscription with the car, yet when I go into my connected drive portal, it along with all the other connected drive services expires at the there year point. 1. Has anyone let their connected drive expire and still had the RTTI work or does it revert to just using TMC data? 2. Once connected drive expires, other than the SOS button, does the built in SIM in the pro nav actually do anything or do you need to fork out the £100 a year or whatever mental money it is..?

unless things have changed, it is not lifetime.
my 2012 car included it for 3 years free but after that you have to pay £120 per year to renew it. you do this via the bmw connected website. this will give you RTTI back as well as the concierge service (if you use that). persoan?y think its worth it as it has saved me countless hours of being stuck in traffic. |

I guess bmw gave you wrong info. You need bmw subscription for RTTI. Built in sim works and transfer that date to show how things work. But as soon as you hit paid services, it instructs you to liaise with bmw.

If you only want RTTI and frankly it the only thing I ever regularly use because the rest are pretty much useless in a CIC GPRS enabled car like mine!
Then I actually think it is worth it for that alone. Despite the connected drive portal being a tad misleading you only need to buy the cheaper of the two subscription once the 'free' three years are up. |

The pricing on the site is very ambiguous. How much is just RTTI?

it seems to know about minor roads to me. the resolution is quite high, down to hundreds of yards.
I see your Picture shows this is presumably NBT. I have CIC , the older version. Whether than makes a difference I don't know. I certainly think its worth it and it's saved me countless hours. I drive around London and up the M40 corridor a lot, it seems very detailed. I generally drive with the map on and enter in my destination even when I know where it is just so I have the benefit of traffic information. However there are certainly a couple of time I manually override it looking at the map and then let it direct me from where I have diverted on my own doing. I rate it as one of the best features of my car (along with ACC and HUD) |
