just ordered them , should be receiving them by next week. what tools/trox# wrench I would need to install these bars front and rear. I am planning to do it DIY. A local garage, the owner is my friend is allowing me to use their hydraulic lift. Any help greatly appreciated. I believe the rear install is much easier than front, anything I need to be cautious about when doing the front sway bar install?

Thinking of doing the same mod myself and also looking forward to ppls comments. I actually thought the front would be easier than the rear though. I haven't ordered mine yet but expected the sway bars would come with the required tension rating. NFI?

I haven't been under an F10.... But GENERALLY speaking, a sway bar is typically VERY easy. As long as it's not 'weaved' through any other suspension components. I'm curious to see under the belly of this beast.

I don't think you can change the sway bars as you are getting DHP...

that's what I gather reading all the threads on sway bars.

bit confused.. by looking at the realoem.com site, http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...47&hg=33&fg=45

2014 LCI 550ix it comes with DDC, is it same as EDC, or you get EDC only with DHP.

the site says with EDC the rear bar is 15mm, while without EDC it is 14mm. I do not have DHP, but DDC.... so would my car have 14mm rear bar or 15mm rear bar?

Look like you've got 15mm rear bar since the car has EDC.

BMW does a good job of confusing us between the models and which options were available within the years
Best way to confirm your rear bar size is look underneath at the bar and you'll see a sticker on it. My 2012 550i does have EDC (electronic dampener control) but NOT have ARS (auto roll stabilization) and the rear bar is only 14.0 mm (see pic)...so the upgrade to a 650i 16mm rear bar is in my plans.

No, nothing to remove. If you stoop down by the rear bumper and look toward your rear axle, you'll see the bar. If you're lucky, the label will be facing you. If not, you'll have to wait until you have the car up on a hoist, or if your real skinny, crawl a bit underneath. The rear bar is not blocked or obscured in any way.

Opps...actually, you can't quite see it by just looking underneath the bumper...the spare tire well is in the way. Instead, you'll have to wait till car is up on hoist. Please see pic attached.

so finally have received my front and rear sway bars and will be installing them this week, now as the weather is better. I checked, yes my rear sway bars are 14mm.!

so was at the garage today, removed the front sway bar, but could not fit the M5 front sway bar, looks like for 2014 the sway bar that come on the car have shorter arms than m5 sway bars, as a result looks like you will have to change the link bars as well. Am I doing something wrong. When I put the m5 front sway bars the end of the sway bar were about 2 inches higher that the old sway bars.... kept both the bars together and you could clearly see that the M5 sway bar had longer arms. the tech said that you would have to change the link bars as well to mount the M5 front sway bar.. anybody change their sway bar on a 2014 LCI 550 xdrive? would like to hear from you.

Yikes! Sorry to hear about your problem. Maybe a game changer here (for M5 bar upgrades) with the 2014 LCI. I suppose BMW heard all the carping by unhappy F10 owners about the poor handling and they did, as their 2014 ad material said, make some "suspension improvements". Maybe that meant a reconfigured sway bar and links for slightly more leverage. Don't know. I only know that F10s 2011-2013 have not reported a problem with the install. If links are all you need, then maybe thats the route (if its not too e$pensive). If not, I'm sure you could sell the M5 bar in the classifieds to someone with a non LCI F10.

I've only done the 650 rear bar on my 14 550i. I wonder if bmw did change something with the fronts where its not a straight bolt on anymore? If its just endlinks that should be relatively inexpensive fix because those come off really easily as well.

On my 2013 535xi i did the front M5 swap bar

On my 2014 550i i only did the 650 rear bar

The handling of my 550 was good enough with just the rear bar at the time so I didn't do the front.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can just compress the suspension (springs) and it will fit on. It just means there is pre-tension when the suspension is left dangling, when it is under load it will be less.
It is the same with the original sways.
Cross-search the part# for the M5 endlinks and you might find it's the same part for all the f10 models.
