It's been almost a year since I started this thread, and I've been patiently awaiting the release of BSW subs to complete my speaker upgrade. Overall, I love my Stage One kit and appreciate the improvement they've made to my "premium" OEM sound system. However, the factory subs immediately became the weak link once surrounded by an array of 14 high quality tweeters and midrange speakers, and I must admit I'm a bit disappointed it has taken this much time for them to release their subs for the F10. As originally detailed in my post above, I got the impression the F10 subs were in the final stages of development and would be hitting the retail market shortly thereafter.

Hopefully the good folks over at BAVSOUND will chime in and give us all an update?

And in response to BawstinMike, I can't say I've experienced a "clipping low end" with the factory subs. Rather, I would say they simply aren't up to task (in producing low frequency depth and punch) and are in a different league when compared to the soundstage improvements I've noticed with the Stage One speakers.

Hope this helps...

pdrf10, I would agree, and that's why I am hesitant on purchasing the Stage 1 speaker upgrade. If they have taken that long and still do not have a Subwoofer offering. Just as you mentioned the OEM subs will pale in comparison to the quality delivered with the upgraded mids and tweeters.

Hopefully someone from BAVSOUND will chime in. A year.. really? I don't think it takes that long considering they do offer the upgraded sub for others.

Hey guys, I just ordered the Bavsound Stage 1 for my F10. I saw the changes in pricing. The price is now $797. I ordered mine with the sound deadening and tool kit. The total was $856. After I apply the coupon 10EXINT, it was $770. So technically, you can buy the entire stage 1 without the extra stuff for about $717. At this price, it is an ok deal.

I have the Harman Kardon 16 speaker system in my car and I can tell you it's much better than the standard system but it's nothing good. It's not clear or accurate and after constant adjustments with the equalizer, I gave up. Hopefully, what everyone is saying about this upgrade will be true for me as well.

I have the basic sound system and I might jsut get this. I don't like bass anyways, so I should be fine. Will keep you all updated.

Sweet deal! The package discount currently being offered is a nice perk indeed.

Good luck with the install, and please keep us posted on your thoughts after taking the improved sound system for a test drive...

if you have the standard system, then yes it is cheaper because there's less speakers in that package. If you have the 16 speaker HK listed as "Top Hi-Fi" on bavsound, then it's $797. Apply the same discount code and you can buy your Stage 1 for only $537.

I hope you realize bavsound is US based company. The US base system is a 12 speaker system. We don't have a 6 speaker system ever in the F10. You might want to contact Micah first before you buy because the kit will probably have way more than you need.

What have u guys decided for subs? Subs are decent but when sitting in the back seat it just sounds weak. Im looking for good sound all the way around. Maybe adding components on the rear doors instead of the back lid? Is it true what they say? Adding subs in the trunk are pointless since BMW really sealed the inside cabin that well?

The only "seal" from the back trunk is the back seats. It doesn't look anything impressive to me.

As it appears the guys over at BSW haven't been / are no longer monitoring this thread, I sent an email to them directly a couple of weeks back regarding the subs for the F10. I was told they've apparently been in development for 3 years, and are currently undergoing the patent approval process.

Although I wasn't given any date(s) regarding availability, I'm gonna assume we've still got several months of wait time ahead of us... At this point, I'm gonna gut it out and complete the final portion of my upgrade with their subs. I've really enjoyed the Stage One speakers thus far, and hope their new subs will be worth the wait.

Hope this helps.

I'm with you PRDf10. I have not experienced "clipping" at the low end. In fact I think the major benefit of the BSW stage one upgrade is the improvement in low end response. That said, I look forward to a sub upgrade from BSW as well. I've been impressed by their product and service, and if they come out with an upgraded sub I'm all in.

If Bavsound deliver the subs and amp by 2015, then they'll be just in time. Most of their customer base is second hand or out of warranty owners. You won't see a lot of people buying aftermarket upgrades within their 4 year 50k miles warranty.

Received the speakers last night. That's much faster than expected. Gonna install this weekend.
