N55 Overheating

Was driving home and the car randomly gave me a sign for overheating and stopped accelerating. It was reving but no power to the wheel. Pulled over and all my coolant leaked out. hat can use this? I didn't hit nothing or anything like that.
Any idea what could of happened?

Were you paying attention to your temp gauge? There is one in the dash to the right of the speedo. If the car overheats, which isn't that uncommon on turbo cars - they generate a lot of heat, the coolant boils and can easily overflow and leak out. Overheating is VERY dangerous, the heads on these cars are aluminum and can warp if heated too much. I constantly pay attention to my temp gauge - especially when sitting in traffic. I also use Water Wetter to aid the cooling, but that's just me

I believe all F10s have oil temp gauges, not coolant. Which is pretty useless in protecting against overheating since the coolant temp can shoot up before the oil starts heating up.

How much coolant did you lose? If it was a lot you probably have a leak somewhere. Some can come out of the overflow depending on how much it overheated but if there's a serious amount of coolant you need to likely start looking at where it's coming from.
