Winter tire swap -driveablility problems

Hey guys,

Any ideas of what cause this problem...

I have original 245/45/18 tires for summer tires and 225/55/17 for winter tires.
Changing to winter tires the car is barely diveable and it is like "stuttering", i.e. shaking especially under acceleration.
It is like the xDrive/electronics is going nuts and that the electronics somehow re-calibrates on the fly.
-Would this be something simple like a bad tire/rim or could it be something else?
-Anyone else experienced the same? Your solution?

Thx!

It has to be something else. My M-Sport came with 19" wheels and during the winter I also run 225/55/17s with no problems at all.

I would have thought that 17" wheels would not clear the MSport brakes...

1/ make sure that you are mechanically clearing everything (like calipers and struts) and aren't rubbing

2/ make sure all four tires are identical sizes and similar wear levels.
