Painted Calipers

So I painted my calipers today and noticed a huge disparity in the amount of brake dust on the rear rotors compared to the fronts. The rears took a lot more effort to get clean and prepped compared to the fronts. When I wash the car, it seems the brake dust on my wheels is distributed evenly front and rear, large amounts on both. but has anyone noticed this especially considering the front calipers are so much larger than the rears?

Probably depends on the pads you are using

OEM...ordering cross drilled/slotted as my rotors are definitely warped.

Happened to me, and discovered my pads were cracked up front and bad. was pulsating bad on braking like "warped rotors" but rotors don't warp. They get hot spots that feel like they warp. Did an experiment and bought new pads only.
After about a week, the rotors cleaned up like a mirror and braking was back to normal.
Dusting went back to more in the front than the rear. I swear BMW had a batch of bad pads out there that are cracking up. i See it on a lot of F10 models
Just my 2 cents.

Thanks! I keep reading both arguments regarding warped rotors, they do and they don't. When I had the wheels off of the car, I spun the rotors by hand and they definitely were binding in spots and didn't feel straight in my hands. I'm going to replace the pads first because it's the cheaper option and I hope that works but I'm not confident.

what pads did you go with?

I always go with the OEM brand. I get a nice discount, Cant remember if these are Textar, Pagid, or TRW.
I fix so many BMW's and just can't remember what my own uses. lol.

how does your rotor look? even coloured mirror like finish or dark and pitted?

Take off your front pads, and look for cracks on the pads. I have a post on this. Let me look for it.

I may do the rotors anyway just because my new wheels show alot of the brakes. At least now I know if I do it it may not be out of necessity and I can hold off a bit.

Mine were the same way, dirtier rear wheels than fronts. It's pretty standard. I went with Akebono's and voila, no brake dust at all, even 2 weeks later. Problem is that you'll lose some hard braking feel but it's a compromise.

Did you notice the difference in braking?
