20" wheel, larger profile tire help please!

Hey all -

I'm picking up a set of VFF 102s and need to get tires. Rims are:
20x9 ET30
20x10.5 ET40

I don't have offsets as I don't believe Vorsteiners provides them.

That being said, I was looking to go with a beefier tire setup as I don't plan on lowering the car and don't want to risk any rim damage. I was thinking of going with Sumitomo HTZ III in 245/40/20 and 275/35/20.

Question is, will I run into any issues on a stock M Sport suspension on a 535? Is this increase in OD going to seriously effect my drivability and acceleration? The overall setup will be lighter than my stock 351s, so if anything it should be beneficial, right?

Does anyone have photos of a stock height F10 with those profile tires?

Thanks for your help!

wonder how this compares to 255/35/20 and 285/30/20. Which runs fine.. but looking for beefier as well.

Asked and answered (those are 7-series tire fitments and will be fine):

245/35r20's in the front

275/30r20's in the rear to keep the OEM rolling diameter at 26.5"

that 245 you listed with a 40 series aspect ratio is going to be a bit taller tire but the rear tire you listed is fine.

with a 285/25r20's very limited in tire selection but would carry a 25.6" overall diameter. with a 285/30r20's you have more of a selection to choose from however you have to keep in mind you're gonna have a taller tire since you're using 30% aspect for sidewall with a 285 which comes out to 26.8" which still comes out to almost the same diameter as the 275/30r20's now that i pulled the specs on it

Seems my stock 351's are 26.7" and 26.5" front and rear respectively which is a .5% difference from each other.

245/40/20 and 285/35/20 would be 27.7" and 27.8" which are also .5% different from each other. It seems like my car would be raised about an inch all around. I think a 285 rear would also be beneficial as I can't keep traction down in a straight line from a dig...all that JB4 boost

I have a front Hamann Lip and side skirt extensions. I'm hoping it won't look too 4x4ish with that tire setup.

Speaking of side skirt extensions I forgot if you posted them or not without looking back?

Well, I ended up going with 245/35/20 & 285/30/20 Sumitomos. Decided against raising my car a whole inch.

I'm running the vff102's with 295/30/20 in back and 265/35/20 (michelin PSS - which tend to run a bit wider) in the front and i'm lowered on ACS springs (1")

and I haven't run into any issues with rubbing.

I think you should be fine, but why are you going with a larger profiler tire, on a larger wheel, the overall size of your wheels will increase, which will make your car look like a 4x4.

I'd suggest if you're going to 20" wheels then go to a lower profile tire, to maintain the same overall height of the wheel/tire

email from vorsteiner with the offsets

" The offset for your F10 5-series 102’s is a ET30 in the front and a ET40 in the rear. Please let us know if you have any additional questions."

I just ordered them. Tires and rims will go on this Saturday. Yeah we'll see how the stretch is, hoping it's not too big of a deal.

Probably not, but if I were to it would be with ACS or H&R OE springs which are both about an inch drop.

Would you use spacers at all? Or are you happy with how flush they are?
