BMW courtesy cars

Soo, I'm going in for some service and apparently BMW Canada (Vancouver for me) is now charging $24.95 for every car used per visit. There's also a 100km cap and gas is no longer free.

This is completely ridiculous!!!! Does anyone know why they are doing this?? We're paying a premium for these vehicles yet we're being treated like we purchased a Honda civic or something. Other luxury brands do not do this.. I'm pretty annoyed right now but have no choice..

I took my vehicle in for some work a couple of weeks ago and was provided a new 328xi as a loaner for free. They gave me a choice. A loaner or shuttle. I took the loaner as I had appointments throughout the day.

It would be detrimental to BMW's image if they start doing this.

Yup. The ultimate courtesy car experience right there. This applies to BC and Alberta so they can save and cut down on their annual expense on courtesy car.

BMW's Enhanced Mobility Program

BMW Canada is about to launch the Enhanced Mobility Program. Effective August 1st, 2013 across all BMW retailers, a fee of $24.95 plus applicable taxes per repair order will be applied to all BMW loaners. Customers are responsible for any costs incurred while in possession of the vehicle such as damages to vehicle, parking tickets and excessive mileage.

Auto West BMW is pleased to provide you with an executive alternative which includes a limousine shuttle service to your destination that is completely free. Whichever option you choose, Auto West BMW will always provide you with the Ultimate Driving and Customer Experience.

·BMW service loaners will be available for a charge of $24.95 plus applicable taxes per repair order.

·If a BMW is not available we will supply a rental vehicle at no charge. Clients don’t have the choice of a rental at no charge, these are used as backup in case we can’t provide a BMW.

·All on-demands will receive a rental car for a charge of $24.95 (On-demand meaning 100% of capacity or more, or no appointments slots available), since these are unscheduled appointments and we are fully booked.

·All vehicles will be filled with gas prior to sign out with the client, customers will be responsible for gas.

·Gas charges will be preset for specific ranges. If a client returns the fuel level in one of the following ranges the charges will be as follows. Between full and ¾ will have a set price of $20, between ¾ and ½ will have a set price of $40, ½ and below will have a set price of $80.

·Courtesy cars will have a mileage limitation of 100km per day. .25cents per kilometer will apply to vehicles over allowable mileage.

·All vehicles will not be allowed to leave Canada.

·24 hour return policy after completion of vehicle will be strictly enforced. $80 per day charge will be applied to vehicles not retuned on time.

---

The Ultimate Courtesy Car Experience. Good job BMW!

lucky me ! I still don't pay ... at least for warranty services. But I have an upcoming scheduled maintenance + warranty service at the same time, let's see if my dealer will make me pay ??

In Toronto, dealers are charging different prices for the loaners, domestic & Asian - $20; BMW $40. + gas usage, of course.

I'm in Canada and had a 2013 535 loaner two weeks ago - still in August. Didn't pay a cent and had it for 5 days and no mention of mileage, gas, or any cost at all.

I knew BMW would get back on us somehow by giving us complimentary 4 years/80k service. I knew it.

Hi there,

I am in Vancouver as well and we recently picked up our 5series from the BMW store. Which dealership do you recommend to get service done? I heard alot about Autowest BMW and the BJ, but nothing much on the BMW store.

the dealership i go to use their new cars off the lot as a loaner car. after so many days, they put it into the used lot and sell them for a few grand less. twice so far, i had to bring back the loaner car to swap out for another loaner because they sold the vehicle i was driving. i hope they will not charge for loaner cars

Some dealers are now charging for the use of a loaner car, which is garbage! I had the same experience at a MB dealer when I had my E350. The dealer was changing $10 to use their loaner, and gas wasn't even included! I also contact MB USA and told them that this will not help their business. I then, traded the car in for a F10 535i!

Now, my new BMW dealer (in Arizona) provides a FREE loaner car for any services done there. My old MB dealer is across the street, so I give them a finger, every time I drive by to go to the BMW dealer!

This has been the norm in the UK for years. BMW's cost a lot of money. It doesn't mean you'll get better support from them.

You're going to the wrong dealer, in Essex they wouldn't even think about it!

This BS would never fly in US.

Perhaps some dealers may offer some kinda "creative" paid flavor of a loner car, but as long as Lexus, Audi and others have it for free BMW will have it too.

If a dealer wants to charge you for a loaner, change the dealer.

Well as I live in the north, I'm hardly going to drive 300 miles to Essex to save £13 on a loan car lol...

I'm all in favor of the charge. I live within walking distance of the dealer I use for service, so I rarely need a loaner car. I don't like the idea that I'm paying for something I don't use.

It's odd to hear you have to pay for a loan car. Similar to immx, here in Scotland its free.
