Are you running BMS Stage 2 on your 535??

If so, can you answer the following questions for me?
1. Approximately how many miles have you driven since install?
2. Have you noticed any detrimental issues to driveability? Any battery drain issues?
3. Is your car leased or owned?
4. If you owned your car and were planning on keeping it long term (say 8 years, 100k miles) would you still install this tune?

I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on this, but don't want any long term issues. Thanks for your input.

I had the jb4 on a 535i and had the battery drain issue. Now I have a 550i and a BMS Stage 1, and also have the battery drain issue. I just removed the stage 1 a couple days ago to confirm it was causing the issue and so far it appears so.

The battery drain issue seemed to only appear once the weather turned colder...don't know if thats coincidental or a factor.

So it seems like there's reason to believe the BMS products cause a battery drain issue, although not everyone experiences the problem.

The performance improvement is definitely worth while, otherwise.

Why didn't you go Stage 2 on the 550?

I have no issues with the BMS tune on my 2015 550. This is my first TURBO tuned car and I was amazed at how much it actually changes the feel of the car. No issues at all drives like stock until you put it in sport or put your foot to the floor.

For your car, the 535 is the same motor as the 335 which is much more popular as far as tuning in the bmw world…. You will be more than happy and no issues

@bake, I have BMS JB4 Stage 2 on both of my F10 528i and F15 X5 sDrive35i.
Both of the cars are lease. I have it on the F10 since the first month of ownership, and it has been running strong.
Also the same case with my F15 X5, it is 1 year old already and it still running strong.
As mentioned, the N55 motor is the most popular one in BMW world. It is used from 1 series to 6 series and X1 to X6.

bake,

I will eventually get a stage 2. I have about 6 months left on warranty and figured that would be a good time to bump up to stage 2. Right now with stage 1 the power is great and stage 1 is very easy to take off for any service visits.

Once the warranty is gone it won't matter if I bring it in with stage 2 plugged in.

also, for the cost of the BMS products and the ability to easily resell here if you change your mind, the financial risk is low. it's the cheapest horsepower you'll ever get.

I've never heard of a battery drain issue with Stage1. It is a known problem on the F10 JB4 for some DME versions though and is fixed using the power wire bypass directions BMS provides. Technically there is no mechanism for the Stage1 to cause this issue. It's caused by the CANbus communications keeping the DME awake. The Stage1 has no CANbus module.

That's good to know. Like I said I wasn't 100% sure this was causing the problem.

Is there a power wire bypass for stage 2 with the n63 engine?
