Will these amazing wheels fit 520DA 2012?
Hey! I ordered a white 520DA M-Sport with pro navi/audio a month ago... It`s getting delivered the coming friday!:happyanim :
I live up North, and the cold weather is coming... So I have to get some "winter wheels" asap. My dealer presented me some alternatives, both BMW originals and other cool rims with "BMW brand" (not real BMW). I am a total ebayer, so i did some research and i found these for my self: http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-CSL-Wheel...ht_5769wt_1159 I think they look incredible, maybe the coolest rims i have seen (when mounted on the car) They are fake, and thats ok... Main issue... Will they fit my 2012 BMW 520DA sedan? (europoean version). I have some other concerns as well. Do anybody know anything of the quality of these, or "replicas" in general... please share experiences! Are they poor quality? Will they break? Will they dent? Will the finish fade/go bad at all or faster? Are they worse, better or the same as original BMW wheels / BMW M-Sport wheels? Are they heavier? Will my car use more gas than with my original m-package rims? (350M or something, double spoke). I understand that my questions is hard to follow up on, so good guessings/experiences will be more than enough And again, most important of all... will they fit? I will probably buy them even if they are heavier, less quality etc. Especially since they will be Winterwheels, and here in Norway they are pumping so much road "salt" in the streets at winter to fight the ice, that most if not all rims will get a major beating after a winter or two, as my friend told me having earlier experience working in the tyre change industry. But at the price.... kr 7000-7500,- NOK, shipped paid for and taxed to my doorstep, the deal/value is high compared to the alternatives out in Norway. So even if they are useless after two years it would not be a major crisis... But driving without wintertyres the coming month will! As I would probably lose grip and wreck my new car... It also says that they are 8" wide in front and 9" wide in rear, why? My friend recommend this tyre profile, as its a good compromise of durability and style. 245/45 R18 tyres for these rims. (Will this fet the "wheelcage" on my car?) Should i get 225/45 R18 in front and 245/45 R18 in rear as the front rim is not as wide as the rear? I will try to get Michelin X-ICE 2 xl for them as they have done well in tests for the climate where i live. But please give me recommendations! Thanks in advance to anyone giving me some answers, your awesome for taking the time! |

They are 20" - Look like bigger wheel due to the M5 being lower compared to other F10s. If you want I can get you replicas very cheap and good looking as well (www.bsbildeler.no).

alternatives
Hey
Cool, thanks for the replies, can you guys post some cool alternatives then? Which size would be ideal? i will never in my life modify wheel wells or other stuff, how big rims can you have without doing this? And i am a little repelled by the thought of so big wheels that they will hit the car in some way when going over speed bumps etc. Please send links to other cool alternatives... |

CK,
When it comes to what size is ideal, there is no correct answer. This is all up to you and what you like. Your car should reflect you and your taste, not reflect what others think. Many enthusiasts on online forums will tell you that certain wheel combinations are ugly, some will tell you they are beautiful. But none of those matter... What matters is that you feel comfortable with your own car and how it looks. When it comes to sizes, you are free to choose from 17" to 22", even bigger. Anything below 17" will result in issues with enough space for brakes and so on. Larger than 22" will probably include some modifications to the car as well. If you browse this forum there are a lot of beautiful cars with 18", with 19", with 20", with 21" and with 22". Once again, all up to you. You indicate somewhat on the taste you have in wheels, and maybe these are an alternative: http://www.bsbildeler.no/?pno=165628 In fare of violating forum rules I just want to say that you are welcome to contact me if you need help in getting a good offer on a complete package. Email andreas(a)bsbildeler.no.

The ebay 18" wheels also has a very low offset of ET20, while the OEM 18" wheels has ET30 front and ET44 rear.
Are you getting the 18" or 19" m-sport wheels? Have you thought about using that as winters and buy new summers?

Go with 20". they are more common and you will be able to get tires easier and cheaper. (sorry, I meant to compare it to 21", not 19 or 18)
I do have to admit, 21" looks nicer, but as long as you have the right drop (spring or coilover), 20" will look just as nice. Last edited by yxc145; 10-17-2011 at 03:31 PM.. |

SkoTner, thanks!
Kave: you are my new hero! These originals are some of the sweetest rims there is: http://f10.5post.com/forums/attachme...1&d=1315420065 And they cost from the UK site you linked to 1/3 of the Norwegian price Thank you so much, I will almost definitely buy some 245/45 R18 winterwheels for the 350M wheels the car is delivered with and replace them with the summerwheels, and then get the "20" BMW 312 £1538" in Ferric grey. |

Personally, I would get a much nicer set of aftermarket wheels (not replicas) for the same price you pay for OEM wheels. |
