Only trouble is Connected Drive will not have the 2017-1 for a while, you can wait and use their downloader when they finally make it available.

Log into connected drive, go to Booked Services, look for USB Map Updates.

Sweet! Downloading now. The 64Gb USB requirement is a pain though as I didn't bring one home with me! I've got a 128Gb micro SD though and a USB reader so hopefully that'll work.

FSC code all done and ready to go once the download is finished. The second time round is really easy compared to the first!

No, the BMW Connected site will be on 2016-2 for a long time.

No idea why, because the BMW forums, etc seem to have the latest version now.

It is always the same. Like you I have 3 years map updates included but have downloaded the last 3 updates from non BMW sites.

When I download do I need to buy any activation code or similar to enable or is it just download onto USB, then upload into car?

You need a valid FSC code,which you can source from many places at different prices, later cars have a 3 year FSC code included with the car.

Can I use these programs or are there safer one's you could recommend, remember I have a MAC, thanks I am new to this as you can see.

For Mac, use Transmission to download the map files and then Keka do decompress them.

JOHNBMWM5 - the maps on connected drive might be 2016-2, but the maps on the link in the first post are 2017-1, which will probably also be woefully out of date too!

MicroSD card in a reader didn't work, but the maps are actually only 29.4 Gb so you can still use a 32gb USB stick. Don't k ow why people needed 64gb sticks - maybe for the CIC or something? NBT maps fitted and installed fine.

I couldn't get the NBT maps onto a 32Gb stick. Always have in the past but this time it was 212Mb short. I used a 64Gb stick with no issues and generated my own FSC code. No idea why people pay for those.

Weird. Maybe different stick brands have very slightly different capacities? Who knows.

It is odd, I tried using the same stick as normal, but as Xenon said, it claimed it was just too small by a few megabytes?
