New 2014 528xi M Sport

Just pulled the trigger on a 2014 528xi M sport. 6-8 weeks for delivery.

The deal was for $500 over invoice and I was able to use a $1000 loyalty credit and $1000 Ultimate Drive Coupon. So the net worked out to $1500 under invoice or "wholesale". To be clear the $2000 in credits were from BMW NA, so the dealer still made a reasonable profit IMHO. It was my second purchase from them in less than a year, I save money, they make money I view this as a win, win. They will receive an approximate $1200 hold back and monthly/quarterly and weekly incentives from BMW NA. Also, Doc/clerical fees is another money maker for them.

Space Gray/Mocha Nappa Leather/Anthracite trim. Packages: DAP+, DA, ACC S&G +ADA, Lighting, Luxury Seating, M Sport, and Premium. Heated Front Seats, SAT, Power Rear Shade with Manual Side Shades, HK Surround Sound.

Yes, I know that many of you car power hungry fellow posters would not have bought a 4 cylinder car. You need something more powerful- that's important for you to make you happy in your driving experience. "More Power To You"- pun intended. You also want more torque- awesome.

I've been driving an X3 with a 4 cylinder engine for about 8 months. It has more horsepower/torque than I crave. More horsepower/torque would mean I'd get more speeding tickets. Seriously, I'm extremely pleased with the X3's performance.

I test drove the 535 and 528 several times in the last few months. I test drove them at the dealer, and took my friend's wheels for drives too. The inline 6 was definitely fun and quicker, but ever time I drove the inline 4 I was never disappointed. For me, I don't feel I'm giving up anything I want. What I'm getting is a great car that achieves incredible MPG for it's class/type.

I gave serious consideration to buying the diesel version, and it does achieve even higher MPG, but for all the options I would want to add, the price got quite high. I thought about buying a leftover 2013, but I couldn't find one with the color/options I wanted.

Guys, (are there any female regulars here?) I've been primarily driving Japanese cars for many years so from a performance perspective I'm thrilled every time I drive a Bimmer.

I just picked up my 2014 528i. It feels like a rocket to me after driving an F150 4x4 for the last 9 years. Now my 300HP truck feels like it's stuck in the mud compared to the BMW. I opted for a very nicely equipped 528, instead of a base 535, but I'm sure that I would enjoy the extra HP if I could have afforded it.

Congrats on your purchase and nicely negotiated deal. No need to justify your choice. Everyone should buy what fits their desires, lifestyle and budget.

Agree, I used to have a six cylinder diesel E61 but actually I am more pleased now with my nicely equipped F11 520d. Torque and power is fun but I think it's the complete package with the equipment you want that makes the car experience complete.

I am thinking of 2014 528i with all options

I currently own a 2011 528i with the 6 cyl engine. At first I was hesitant to go for the 6, as I had always had 8 cyl. engines. I was very pleased not only with the performance, but the incredible gas mileage (25/32). Now I am looking at a new 2014 528i loaded with all options except for ceramic knobs and night vision. I am concerned about the 4 cyl, but after driving it, I am leaning towards going for it. My dealer currently has offered me dealer invoice ($62,915 including. Moca, training and destination) on the car and has given me a lease payment of $640/month, 36 month w/36K miles (with $5,000 down). That price is all in, taxes, tags, etc. How can I tell if I have gotten the wholesale price, minus the $2500.00 rebates ($1000 loyalty, $500lease contribution and $1000 ultimate drive) without getting the runaround if I asked the dealer? Your help will be appreciated.

You're basically looking to lease a car very similar to the one I just ordered. Congrats on the pending purchase. RWD or X Drive?

The General manager of my local BMW dealer gave me the "Dealer Inquiry Report". It shows 'Wholesale" (Invoice) in the first column and MSRP in the second column. However this works too:

Multiply Base MSRP by .92. Multiply all MSRP options by .91. Add destination and handling fee. Find out what MACO is ($300 in New Jersey) and $180 training. For all figures either go up or down to the nearest $5- even if you don't do this you'll only be off by $20 or so. There you have invoice figure.

Also, beware of dealer add ons. paperwork, and other fees could be padded.

Congrats op. use the car in good health as they say.

I like the n20 in my X3.. With 13k miles on it now, it s a nice smooth little gem of a motor

Personally I think it's over matched with an f' 10, but if you like it and it meets your needs? That's all that matters.

Enjoy the new 5'er!!

I am just over a full week into my new 2013 528' M Sport - you will love yours!

I am glad I made my choice. Also the stock M 18's have more rubber on them and have a great mix of sporty and supple ride.

Space Gray- nice.

Do you have specs on the Harman Kardon sound system? # of speakers, watts, etc.? can't find info on it.

Oh I got B&O There is a two page PDF on it with little specs:
http://www.bang-olufsen.com/en/car-audio/car-models/bmw

H&K Only has X1, 1 and 3serries on there :

Yes, I saw that. I'm sure the reason is that B&O isn't available as an upgrade on those models. It's available on the 5 Series so the brochure and the website don't even bother mentioning the middle sound option: H-K.

I wish you many years of listening pleasure with your B&O system!

I started a new thread, but since this one's about Positive Changes for 2014:

Here's my guess based on the 2013 BMW brochure for my 2013 X3. Same sound system or quite similar because here's how it's described:

Premium high-fidelity system is a 16- speaker, muti-channel system that outputs reproduction of the surround information contained in the stereo signal in a nine-channel format (seven mid and high range channels and two central bass channels) as well as a 5.1 surround sound from a DVD source. Includes a 600 watt amplifier with nine channels. The system compensates for driving noise in smooth steps and speed-dependent equalizing. All 16 speakers are fitted with very strong, yet compact neodymium drives.

The B&O sound system isn't available for the X3, so they're promoting the Premium Sound System (H-K) as an upgrade. Since the B&O sound system is available on the 5 Series BMW doesn't even bother mentioning the middle option for sound in the 2013 brochure: H-K.

I wish you many years of listening pleasure with your B&O system!
Thanks, I consider myself a wanna be audiophile so I had to get it so I won't have that lingering "should have" feeling. Plan on keeping the car for a while so I splurged.

From everything I read - there is not tremendous difference for the price of B&O and I do not recommend over other options. (For me it was the last check mark in the option list)

EDIT: I do however agree the HK upgrade on this car from base model stereo in US for the price is worth it, unless you are going all out modding your self with a custom system.
