I really liked iDrive controller, that comes with NBT. So I decided replace my old CIC controller with newer version. Here is close comparison between them, NBT version looks much nicer: NBT controller communicates with ZGW thru K-CAN2 line, in order to controller to work, I installed K-CAN2 wires from ZGW module to the NBT controller: My CIC controller had 10 pin plug, in which also are 360º camera and PDC connections. So there no other way, I had to connect both controllers to my car, otherwise 360º camera and PDC buttons wont work: After that, I dismantled CIC controller completely and tucked only electronic part under gear selector: After ZGW firmware update to latest version, no coding was not needed for NBT controller, it started to work right away. And here is final result |

N57 engine has known issue for timing chain stretching out and sometimes even snapping and causing a lot of damage. Recommended change interval for N57/N47 timing chains is max 250 000 km. My car had at least 30 000 km to this mileage, but decided to be safe. So I bought all the parts needed for this kind of job. All parts are BMW OE (except oil filter - made by Hengst and injector gasket rings - made by Bosch): Handed car over to very experienced local guy, who did this job around two days. I was really glad, that I did not wait anymore with this job, engine timing was already quite off: Here You can see, how much tensioner is reaching out from his housing: All the old parts removed and surface cleaned: All the old scrapped parts: New improved parts installed: Oil pan prepared for installation: |
