Does anyone know what engines will be in the lineup of cars to hit the US? I assume a 535i will be there and a 550i, but any other engines?

From a design POV im particularly impressed that they went with a Concept CS style hood that is on the GT as well, its like a more flowing and raked design of the classic E39 hood with its prominent central hump that can be seen from any angle and is characteristic..... I love it and think its perfect. The front grills also look very prominent and classic in shape which is a must in order to keep the cars identitiy as a BMW. The headlights we are still yet to see but I think they will be unique as compared to the rest of the BMW lineup as BMW did with the E60. I think the top will be sharp and crisp but not overtly overly doneup as the E60 was.

The body goes back to the nice inverted V shape when looking at the car from the front or back and that gives a very sporty look to the car IMO, I didnt like how the E60 gave that up and could look like a refrigerator from certain angles (dont get me wrong, im a big fan of the E60!). What I mean is this shape when you look from the rear

/-----\
/_____\

You get the idea

From the rear, the car looks well put together with little perceptible gaps and should look chunky and solid. WHat im not completly sold on are the rear taillights which look far too angular from what we are seeing so far. It could be that rounded details are simply masked from sight but I hope the rear lights are not completly angular as it will look very similar to the just released E Class which I don't particularly like
As far as I know, almost all new-gen BMWs (barring the E89) have recieved a very CS-esque hood, as it's not just the F10. There's emphasis on wide sculpting and pooling the light together, which imo looks fantastic, and solid too.

That inverted-V look you're referring too would be accredited to the car's increased tumblehome and more flowing flanks around the C-Pillar. The old E60 had a much more 3-box look to its profile instead of a flowing roofline. As is the trend with rooflines, I'm not surprised to see the F10 with a faster slope.

I personally think the taillights are going to be badass. Thank god they're not all red, as I couldn't see the true 5er successor ditching all remnants of white.

The grilles have been executed to perfection too. The one thing I hope they pull off is the 5er "look". The E39 and E60 have that bossman, mafia-ish, business look about them that no other BMWs have. They're the perfect blend of mature aggression.

True, it's a big car, but it's also lighter than the e60.

Recap from the F10 Information Primer in this forum.

E60 dimensions length: 191.1 wheelbase: 113.7 Width: 72.7 Height: 57.8
F10 dimensions length: 190.6 wheelbase: 116.5 Width: 72.8 Height: 57.2

Overall F10 will be slightly shorter with much better proportion and dynamics. As you may see the front and rear body line/mass shrink toward the tips much like what E39, E46 and E90 did. The F10 is going to look agile instead of block-looking while composed the best part of BMW design elements from the past.

Good info forgot about the primer thread. I love how the car will be shorter, lower, and wider at the same time. Can't believe the car is actually getting better dimensions all around in this day of bigger and bigger cars. Should make for a much better look as we're already seeing in the spypics!

Any idea how much lighter? This is really a dream come true. Car is getting smaller/sleeker in all dimensions, PLUS lighter

+1 the e60 rear end looks like they added on the rear end from a different car and bolted them together I guess I'm not sophisticated enough to understand "design language".

New one looks way better...

If it does not appear at the Frankfurt auto show, when is the Geneva auto show?

You won't be seeing it at Frankfurt unfortunately.

BMW Group at Frankfurt this year has a lot to show.
BMW's EfficientDynamics Concept
Production version of the BMW X1 and 5 series GT
Production version of the 7 series and X6 activehybrid
BMW's little diesel technology, 320d

MINI's concept coupe and speedster + more

finally...
Rolls Royce Ghost production version
From what I heard, the exhibition at Rolls Royce is beautiful as heck!

So, looks like the F10 will debut in March at the Geneva Auto Show. Anyone have a guess when one would be able to take European delivery... This will be my 3rd ED 5 series but I now have some constraints, already had to schedule my arrival in Germany for the end of July. Hoping I can pick this puppy up the first week of August, 2010. Any feedback? BTW, looks awesome and I especially like the improvements to the interior. Keep those spy shots coming

Anyone think there will a significant price increase? If they still keep it around $60k starting, with a TTV8 it would be a great deal! I am hoping if the pricing is right to do a ED next June.
