Everything makes sense now !

I honestly believe I've figured out why BMW doesn't allow you to configure a Deep Sea Blue F10 with the M-Sport package, or offer a limited-to-the-M-Sport-only color option like Le Mans blue: it's because they're saving this combination for the USA version of the 30th anniversary 5-series car ! Really ! It makes perfect sense. Here's a quote from Left Lane News that gives me hope (http://www.leftlanenews.com/bmw-rele...-in-japan.html ):
"Those who want one but don’t live in Japan will have to be patient. BMW is expected to launch other limited editions to celebrate the 30th birthday of the 5-Series across the world but not until 2012 when the car actually turns 30."

It's nice that they are saving the color for anniversary edition. But since it is limited, there will probably be no negotiation room for one. I like the color, but not enough to pay full MSRP.

I agree with you, but since I'm seriously considering paying the $5,500 special order paint charge for Le Mans blue, I think it might be better to wait for the 30th Anniversary edition and pay about the same price (maybe a little more) but then own a collectible car, vs. just having an M-Sport with a one-off paint color. Would you agree ?

Ah yes, if you are willing to pay 5.5k for a color You will also be getting special bits on anniversary edition which should make your ride pretty unique!

Le Mans Blue vs. Alpina Blue ???

Well, I've finally gone ahead and ordered an M-Sport 2012 535i with special order paint for the extra charge. I found a dealer in Los Angeles who was willing to knock $1,000 off of the normal $5,000 cost, so that pushed me over the top. My F10 will be pretty well loaded with Premium Package, Premium Sound, Technology Package, Active Roll Stabilization, Topview, etc.

So here's the question: Should I go with Le Mans Blue (which is what I specified) or switch to Alpina Blue (assuming I can get this color, NA rep is checking). Of all the multitude of BMW blues, I like Le Mans Blue for being a true, pure blue, with minimal metal-flake. Alpina Blue of course is lighter, with more sparkle, and it looks a little more "luxurious". Either color will look exceptional, and certainly exclusive on a 5-series. One advantage of Alpina Blue is that this color is only available on the Alpina B7, the highest-end car in BMW's current range. Le Mans Blue, on the other hand, while being exclusive to the M3 and M Sport equipped 3-series and 1-series, is a little less exclusive, and on cars "below" the 5-series, rather than above it like Alpina Blue on the 7.

So, which blue should I go with for my $4,000 special order paint charge ?

NOTE: PLEASE POST REPLIES TO NEW THREAD TO HANDLE THIS QUESTION - THANKS !

I am not sure which is worse, 4k option charge for paint or 33 different blues, lol.

I can attest that #22 would come with an additional 4k rebate!
